What is it about Jaguars and Jazzmasters that just take fuzz effects to a whole new level? I don't know if it's just me or not, but I can plug any guitar into a fuzz and it'll effin rock but when I plug my Jag in... man, does it ever tear shit up!

Does anybody else feel this way about these offset bad boys?

My only guitar for the past eight months has been a Jazzmaster strung with flatwounds. I've found that the relative lack of sustain from the strings and bridge/vibrato setup combined with the extra treble from the electronics seem to help keep everything from blending into mush with most fuzz. The JM with fuzz has been much more chord-friendly than anything that came before.

On the other hand, some pedals like my Fuzz Probe just beg for higher output pickups than I can offer it. I've thought of sticking a high output humbucker between the single coils but for the nagging feeling that I shouldn't mess with a good thing.

I've actually found my JM to be more temperamental than my strats or my V. All of my pedals sound great with the other guitars (or I would have traded them ).
With the JM, either they sound AMAZING (as in more so than with my other guitars), or they sound totally uninspired and unusable.

Got a cv duo sonic and it sucks with fuzzes... no clarity, and really fizzy. Even made my muff sound bad. The only thing that sounded 1/2 way decent was a rat at a lower gain setting. My sx tele sounds pretty wicked with most dirt though, but is pretty uninspiring clean.

I'm on a hunt for new pups for the duo.

Jags FTW! I think it's because they can sound like you're being stabbed through the ear with an icepick without any effects on their own (they have higher output than JMs, right?)...so when you throw a nasty fuzz in with it...

And when you stack gain/fuzz pedals with them...

I love my SG. I named it Uno.

And in case you were wondering, SG stands for "sounds good."

Never played a JM but JBs sound great with fuzz

Jazzmaster = SEX with fuzz. end of story

I've got my Strat strung with Thomastik nickel flats and I have to agree that for me flatwounds really bring a clarity and thump to fuzz. I do, however prefer really low output single coil pups and I think they sound great with fuzz. I've found that high output humbuckers have more of a tendancy to turn fuzz to mush for me.

I agree for the most part but my Fuzz Probe's oscillation tends to scream over my JM more than over a humbucker-ed guitar and it's just not usable like it was with the Firebird I had before that.

The JM is the best sound I've had with a Big Muff and anything without screaming oscillation, though.

I've got Lollar Blondes. They are supposed to be like low output 50's strat pups. Great clean tones. Clarity. Ample Bass. Here is more info:

Really? My CV Duo-Sonic sounds great with fuzz. Although it might/probably depends on the amp+EQ
