Drum sample setup. I can haz advize?

Ok, so I need some input. What in anyone here's experience is the cheapest easiest to set up way to add some samples to our drummer's setup? Something like a Roland Octopad would probably be the kind of trigger set up we'd be lookin for. I just don't want to lug my laptop into the bars and clubs we play at.

Does anyone have experience with samplers with external (midi or otherwise) triggering ability?

Probably not the best place to ask something like this but there seem to be a good number of experimental musicians here. :idk:

Thanks in advance!

Similar to the Octopad. No laptop needed.
