Random cheap cables. I bet someone will suggest George L's or Lava Cables though.

Most of mine are home made.
I have a Proco Lifelines from 1972 that still works great.
I also have a few of those cheap colored 6” things that either never work brand new or last for years and years.
I like silent connectors btw.
I have to buy a bunch more bulk cable soon.

Yeah, Hosa. Pretty cheap, and you can buy em in packs with varied length. I'm sure they aren't as clear sounding as Lava or George L's, but they work for me and I've rarely had one fart out on me...even if one does I could just resolder.
Off my pedalboard I use the cheaper Monster Cables to go to my amp...21 ft I think?
For my guitar to board (or just to amp depending on the situation) I use a Bullet Cables coily cable...mostly because I think it looks cool

The sound is pretty good with them and evey george ls i've ever bought no matter who made it breaks after a couple weeks.

$15 for 8 cables that don't break vs. $15 for one flimsy cable...

I've got a mix of hosas and lavas. I really dig the lavas, but I only buy them when they go on sale (which doesn't happen often).

For those of you who build your own cables, what cables do you use and where do you buy from? My cables are fine for the moment (Canare to and from board, dimarzio cheapies from GC in between pedals), but I'm thinking that I might someday want to re wire everything for fun. I do want a longer cable from my guitar to my board. It's 12 feet, which is fine, but not super mobile.

The coiled Bullet Cables are cool. I have a red one that I love a bit irrationally
I fell for the hype of George L's for my board...I like em, but I'm sure hosas would have worked as well. I use planet waves basic cables for going from the board to the amp, and have no complaints with those.

This! I want to build my own cables, but the few times that I researched it, I was unable to find a way to do so that would be cheaper than buying them. Where should I be looking?

I did this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002KR394/ref=ox_ya_oh_producthttp://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/product/Live-Wire-Advantage-Series-14-Straight-Instrument-Cable?sku=330470then spent the day cutting and splicing to fit my pedalboard.... takes time, patience, and soldering ability, but doesn't get any cheaper than that, still had cable left over to splice into a 12ft instrument cable and cleaned up my pedalboard nicely.... not bad
