So, what site(s) do you guys use to promote your music? Do you use myspace, facebook, last.fm, your own website, a combination of the two (or three).
Also does anyone use Tunecore or Routenote to actually sell your music and get it onto iTunes, Amazon, eMusic, etc.?

We use myspace, facebook, and twitter for spreading the word on our music and communicating with other bands. We use cdbaby to sell and distribute our music. The one time fee of $35 dollars is well worth it..for $35 you get full digital distro with itunes, lala, rhapsody, and they will sell physical cds for you. They always pay on time and the checks always cash. it is a great way to sell your music if you don't have a label to distribute your music.

Has anybody tried thesixtyone.com? It's pretty cool, even though I don't fully understand how it's supposed to work.
One very strange thing is that there doesn't seem to be a delete account option... kinda freaks me out. It's a neat site, though.

aside from using it as free website/hosting site, is a myspace music page even relevant anymore promotion-wise, considering most of the plebian interpersonal social networking has now migrated to facebook and twitter, i. e. that is where the "fans" are at. i mean how are you gonna promote your show or record if no one reads your myspace bulletin.

I think the band aspect is really the only thing myspace has going for it anymore. I would definitely get one, it's a very simple/quick way to show other peoples your musicz.

yeah i guess your right. i guess my main question is. how long is that going to stay relevant. i kind of miss "interfacing" w/ bands via myspace. i mean is that all myspace is good for now. just a free website for musicians. i mean even the term "myspace band" has lot its validation now in many respects. or maybe i'm wrong...IDK...
