Anyone in the PDX area willing to teach?

Hi everyone!
I'm a long-time electronics fan, and have been wanting to get into the actual creation of pedals, circuits, etc. for a few years now. I have done a few of my own repairs to my instruments, but I would love to find someone who is willing to teach me about electronics. My brain responds to an 'apprentice', hands-on type of learning environment compared to the normal classroom setting one finds at a community college, university, etc...
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Good luck finding someone. I mean it. I learn best that way as well, but I found I learn better on my own than a standard classroom-- so I've just taken that rout.

Can anyone maybe suggest a good DIY book for a beginner? Or maybe some good kits to start with?

From what I can tell, General Guitar Gadgets has great kits. Build Your Own Clone too, but they're more expensive. BYOC may come with better instructions.

beavis audio is where i first went, all his info is free and it's a very good place to start...
then i found
http://www.indy-guitarist.com/home and Brian Wampler has a downloadable series of books that have tons of great info on building your own stuff and he takes you step by step building circuits to help understand how all the parts work together (and how you can manipulate them later).... you HAVE to have discipline to get through it but it's very good....
+1 on freestompboxes.org but only after you know a little bit first, some of the threads there have great and in depth info that could overwhelm someone just starting out
KEEP IN MIND that if you like it and start to get good, you will spend WAY too much time building and less time actually playing.... ask any of the builders here.....!
