:?: whats the point of getting a pedal for trade purposes? why not just buy the pedal u wanted in the first place? :idk:

i basically have every single pedal i could ever want at this point. expect for one or two. i want to sort of kind of want to move on to racks, drum-machines, sequencers, software, & production gear. & kill the pedal gas:

i have 13 pedals & want to try to keep my "pedal family" at 20 (or less..). but i was thinking about maybe getting 5 more & having them around & if i saw something i wanted i could offer it as trade fodder. so i would be getting a few pedals that i would "want" or use but could trade it off & it wouldn't be bad a loss. becuz at this point i have pedals that i would NEVER trade off.

i have this habit of pedals NO ONE would want. i'd like to have second TGD but i know that wouldn't be good trade fodder. a Mike's Salty Romance or a Rot Yr Brain would be pedals i could conceivably have around but a Shiva or an Eau Claire Thunder would probably better as trade fodder, although those are two pedals that do not want at all.

i see SP-AE as trade fodder in b/s/t but i don't really see people clamoring for that pedal WTB-wise. i think a Shoegazer would be a good trade fodder pedal for me. becuz while i would rather have a Rocket or a SP-AE, i could see myself as having that pedal around. using it. experimenting w/. et cetera but if someone wanted to trade then that would be cool too.

i am thinking about getting a Fuzz Factory Vexter for the same reason. i always kind of wanted a Fuzz Factory but i have no real need for one. i figured i'd get it. have it around. & if something came up i wanted i could trade it. maybe get another one or something...

so it would be a combo of trade fodder vs. having around. i know which pedals are "popular" so i don't want those pedals. so it really is a question of what i would want and what someone else would want as well on trade...

:joy:

You can never tell what people will want...as long as it isn't really obscure.
Any ILF brand will of course be popular around these parts.

As somebody mentioned...anything in a one off/painted finish will probably be better "fodder".

i sort of kind of see the same sort of pedals that people put on their trade lists. a certain pattern. however. those are not the pedals that i would consider buying. i have never sold a pedal & i don't buy pedals & get bored w/ them a decide it is not for them & then sell it. i put in a lot of research & make a lot of decisions before i buy a pedal & that is the reason why i have all of my pedals or don't want to trade them. becuz they all serve some sort of purpose. even the ones i don't use much.

i kind of see having a few pedals around that i could part w/ it as being a good thing. liberating. if you will.

if a painted pedal would make for good fodder then i think i would get a painted SM. i alwayz wanted a SM but after i made the decision to buy a Rocket i kind of felt that wouldn't be a good idea & decided i want an AE as my first $95 Devi. so in that sense that is a good idea & i thank you for making teh suggestion. again i am looking for ideas & just airing this stuff out. talking about loud. this is more like a longer-term thing...

:)

I guess if you have a Boris fan with kick ass gear, and DC discontinues the shiva and thunder. Said fan may want those discontinued DC pedals. If you have either one, could be potential "trade fodder".

No, I don't get what you mean. I guess I don't see the point. If you want pedals that could be worth trade value hit TGP. Lots of stuff over there I'd assume. Who knows what'll be rare and worth something someday. Play from your heart, brah. :animal:

no i am not trying to have pedals that are in high trade value. just something i could PART. i could see myself trading off a Fuzz Factory. but not any of the pedals i have now. there are a few pedals that i have that if i got doubles of, i would trade off the doubles.

honestly. i would not buy DC stuff for that reason. to be honest. i would be absolutely crestfallen if hipsters starting buying up DC stuff & that stuff becomes popular. or as long as everything except the TGD became popular i would be cool w/ that. i don't even like Boris. i got a TGD well before that Boris thing becuz i think it is a great pedal. i want to continue to buy great pedals. i just would like a few i am not so attached to.

:)
