So!
http://www.recordspinner.com/store-products-CR49-Crosley-Traveler_9094482.htmlAnyone know anything about how this turntable player sounds?
I'm looking for a turntable to buy for someone for Christmas, preferably in the 130$ range.
I looks really good though, but im very unsure about how it sounds, since you cant use anything but built in speakers.

I'm not sure that the speakers will be of the highest fidelity and they're not going to have too much bass response, given their small size and the fact that they're bundled in with the player, but I'll bet they sound fine. Also, see if you can find out if it has a standard, replaceable needle or if you'll need to get a manufacturer-specific one. Standardized is the way to go, as they needle is the biggest factor in the fidelity of a vinyl record.
it'd be awesome if this had a line out too!

I cant find anything suggesting that you need a specific needle, i found it while shopping for vinyl at insound.com, i found this though:
http://www.insound.com/Crosley_NP1_Replacement_Needle_Record+Needle/productmain/p/INS41121/I doubt the audio quality is very hi-fi too, but as long as it sounds decent im satisfied. The only thing that bothers me is a lack of a line out

if i could make it perfect, id have it battery powered(optional) so you could bring it to the park in the summer.

You could probably make a line out... the battery thing, i'm not so sure about.
I once saw a little wind-up van that drove around on a record and played the tunes. I've never been able to find one but I've always wanted it. I think it's like 1 watt or something.

if u want portability and all that. why not get one of the portable turntables they sell? i think numark and vestax make one, maybe even stanton. they are prolly cheaper than that crosley too w/ everything you've stated (battery powered, line out, etc.) i think i remember them being like 80-100 usd.

Vestax Handytrax! I've had mine for years and it lasts quite a long time on batteries if you forget to turn it off but there is an AC adaptor too.
It has line-out, headphone-out, and line-in.

replacement needles are readily available and pretty cheap aswell. I picked up a few diamond needles for $8. (793-D7 is the part number if you're curious...)

you're thinking of the vinyl killer/soundwagon.
