We recorded a show on my 21st birthday. I play lead guitars on every song but Thermals.
I wrote "The Still Waves," "Canary Song," "Thermals," and "Like Dirt."
My bandmate (who sings as well) wrote "April/Rain," (which is 2 songs that we fit in one recording 'cause we screwed up) and "Hungry Ocean."
"Oslo in the Summertime" is an Of Montreal cover which turned out very dancey and fun.
I probably wouldn't be giving this my own thread but I'm 21 and I drank white russians tonight and I'm eager to see what you guys think.
We've only practiced like 7-8 times together, and it's a 5-piece ( singer/guitarist/bassist, guitarist(mee!), guitarist/bassist, keyboards, drums/harmonies.) Tightest band I've been in as of yet. And this was a show that I was kinda buzzed playing (i was turning 21, after all...
We sounded much better live, but I'm pretty sure the general idea is there. If not, download my demo here: http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=fb49 ... b9a8902bda
The more we play together, the tighter we get, but I love you guys and wanted to see what you thought.
I play all the leads using Mellowtone pedals, Blue Box, Malekko Ekko 616 (before sending it in for tha fixins,) and a Clari(not). (Singing Tree and Wolf Computer Deluxe, but shhh, don't tell nobody. it's my secret.) Or at least it really seems like it. Nobody in my town really pays attention to boutique effects. I love it and hate it.
ANYWAY
Let me know what you think!
puh-leeeeze listen. It means a lot to me to hear what you guys have to say.
PS, we'll be recording with a friend of mine in a few months, doing track-by-track recordings and having pretty sounds instead of bottom of the barrel, barely mixed tunes recorded on the fly with a decent field mic behind mad drunk folks. I'll give you guys a heads-up and a free download site when that happens. I'll probably update this thread to keep you guys aware.. (if you dig it, that is.)
