Thread the Gates!!!

So yeah, I dig the gated distortion sound (for a perfect example, listen to "M.O.R." by Blur). I recently discovered that the Zvex Box of Metal has a gate that will allow/enable this result. I think it might be fun to apply this gate effect to fuzzes (I know many of them are gated already) or whateverthehell distortion I want, so I'm planning on buying an MXR Smart Gate. If there is something better, or cheaper but just as good, please holler.
