try to check your boot sequence to make sure your cd drive boots before anything else.

otherwise im not sure.

restart your computer and then itll say like.. press f2 or f10 or something

so then push that and your bios stuff or whatever should pop up, then on the side there should be options for things to pick. youll want to find boot sequence.

then youll make sure your cd drive is first, it might be called optical drive.. anyways. just make sure its first, thats all. then hit escape, it should ask if you want to save. pick yes. then itll restart, if the disc is in... it should load the first page like normal but then itll boot from the disc.

if you want to delete everything on your computer for a totally clean install then (at least for windows, i have never installed ubuntu) you will see partitions, make sure you delete them so you just have 1 empty partition and select that to install... and thats it really...

like i said, i havent installed ubuntu but im guessing its a similar process!

hope that helped a little.

im not sure what gparted is but if what it does is delete the partition, then yes.

i was just saying, when you install windows it asks you which partition you want, so i always just delete the old one (deletes everything on the comp) and install from there but... if thats what that program does then do it to it!

your Ubuntu disk should have its own partitioner in it, it will start it up as part of the install

If you're sure your CD is OK, try F4 > "Safe Graphics" video mode

you should check out a ubuntu/ linux type forum. i'm sure someone could help you there. or google it.. idk. all i can say is what i have.

boot from the cd and see if you can delete the partition you have from there and install.. if thats not how ubuntu works then i have no idea.
