i'm looking for a pretty heavy metal/hard rockin' distortion. screamy and gainy, but clean and polyphonic. i have a jam that uses chords and monophonic riffing. ideas? kinda digging the jekyll & hyde, by visualsound. also, is the memory boy really as tits as i hope it will be? should it be the mammary boy?

DOD / Digiteck Deathmetal. I mean it, it is one hell of a distortion.
The EQ is powerful and can get many sounds.
It is cheap.
It is loud.
It is noisy.
It was no gain control.
But other than that it is a very useful pedal.

If you have the dough, I'd check out an Emma Rezzafratzits (sp?). Supposed to be really versatile. I know nightraven uses one.

If you can find one the old Boss Hyper Metal doesn’t sound bad at all.

that is a super awesome pedal, as well as a pretty penny. i'm also kinda thinking zvex box of metal. it has a wicked gate. but then, mxr has a really good gate pedal...

haven't messed with that one. boss pisses me off. i don't wanna like them, but almost everything they make sounds good. oh well, i'd rather have wicked sounds than let the rock suffer for pride.

I have tried a lot of metal distortions, and I have to say that the Landmine LD-1 slays them all. It is super-high-gain, and the EQ section is amazing. You can get a TON of bass or treble, scoop the hell out of it, or make it a very honky mid-hump. Sounds fantastic.
