eBay, Ratshit and DIY (using instrument cables and those flat, wide connectors you can get at RS).
I bought some very nice, straight-end TRS patch cables on eBay, and some others that are total shit (at least 3-4 have shit the bed since I bought them)... They're those little ones you see with the picture that shows a "stepped" display of multi-colored cables--fuck those things!

Guys who roll your own... Where do you buy cable and connectors from!? Also, any good tutorials? I can solder pretty ok, I may try and do my own.

I buy the $5 cheapies from my local GC. I was just curious if anybody went overboard on expensive cables but it doesn't sound like it!

I can attest to this... Radioshack's longer cables a real crap... Mine always crap out eventually, but I have never had a single patch cable from Radioshack cut out on me...
I have sort of a love/hate relationship with Radioshack...

http://www.markertek.com/I use Canare L2ES for patch cables. Personally, I like the Neutrik X series ends, but you can buy something cheaper. They have those flat right angle connectors there. I've been considering finding a smaller right-angle plug, but the Neutriks are sooo good.
I use Canare GS-6 for guitar cables. I don't like it for patch cables at all, though. They make a mini version that may work, but the capacitance is higher than the mini mic cable, so ehhh.
Also, I could do a bit of a photo tutorial, but I don't have anything but the cable I mentioned and the Neutrik plugs. They're pretty different than other plugs...
