Further Amp recommendations

I'm actually not really sure I like the tone of the AC4TV all that much as cute as it is... it's a bit too bluesy for me. I do like Vox tones but not as much as I used to.

Unsure what else to pick up now. A JC would be nice but it's hard to pick them up around here. Considering getting a Tiny Terror head and a cab, dunno how well the TT takes fuzz though.

I'd prefer tube but I'm open to SS and digital amps too. I want a nice think low to mid gain drive.

have you gotten into the room with an AC4 yet? I wouldn't judge it based solely on internet clips. they disappointed me a bit at first as well.

I've seen the terror with a fairly heavy distortion pedal and it reacted pretty well... i'm guessing from its simplicity of design it should react fairly well but then again that is just a guess.

What about the Night Train amp? a bit more pricey than a Tiny terror but could be a good contender but it might suffer from that slightly bluesy tone aswell.

My real reccomendation would be a kit though if you think you could take it on http://www.ampmaker.com/index.asp just cause of the ridiculously cheap prices of them for a really nice tone.

Where are you that you can't pick up a JC?
They can be had for around $300 shipped off ebay. :thumb:

No, I've tried desperately but can't find one where I live.

I'd probably pick one up if I could find a cheap power amp to stick between it and a cab. Any suggestions?

I wish power wasn't an issue but I'm really worried about jamming etc. I won't always be able to mic it.

it really is quite loud. don't you have a lunchbox? i bet that in stereo with an AC4 would be ridiculous.

Yeah, that'd be pretty good!

The problem with the AC4 is that it doesn't clean up very well. I want to use my Dirty Bomb with it and I find it doesn't take too well with amp saturation. I guess I could use that with my Lunchbox though I need a cab.

I was thinking of getting a super sensitive speaker and putting it in an unloaded cab. That way I could have a bedroom volume AC4 and a gigging volume one.

That’s a good idea.
A super efficient speaker in the right cab really kicks the volume up and adds dimension.

i know this is like a broken record, but don't judge by internet clips alone! see if you can get in a room with one.

I've got a Freda cab w/ a Weber Cali 10". Super efficient. Sounds really good. :omg:

I have an AC4TV and it sounds great. It takes pedals well. I cleans up fine for me. With my strat, it stays clean until about 12 o'clock. Humbuckers, not so much. I really don't think it is giggable without mic'ing it. It really isn't that loud.

That said, I say go with the Tiny Terror if you want it for jams. Plenty loud and great tone.
