What fuzz/dirt uses the least amount of parts?
That is all, I didn't know hwere to really post it so I guess here... If you have a schematic, I wouldn't mind taking a peak at it.

The Bazz Fuss is the simplest but incredibly awesome fuzz
http://www.home-wrecker.com/bazz.html don't be fooled by it's small circuit size, it puts out some heavy thick fuzz.
2nd Simplest well that's gunna be a fuzz face really, simple as pedal that's been turned into everything and anything.
Distortion, 386 based are pretty damn simple, it's the basis for the sonic titan, here's a good one (i'd go for the big daddy variation)

I've heard the original muff fuzz was really simple, like only two parts or something....

Yeah the original EHX muff fuzz was simple and still is, it's not far detatched from a fuzz face to be honest in difficulty and style, here's the schematic
http://fuzzcentral.ssguitar.com/schemat ... sschem.gifThe Bazz Fuss is more synthy sounding for what it is.
Shame Tim Escobedos site's just gone down, was some good simple schematics for fuzzes on there, i'l see if I can find a mirror.
Edit: Found one
http://folkurban.com/Site/GuitarEffects-681.htmlThe LoFo MoFo is very simple, I beleive Devi used to make something simmilar with E13...
The Punch in the face is pretty good too.

Bazz Fuss!!
Not much hi note sustain but its great on lower strings and chords or synthy leads
my personal fav recipe is
2.2uF input cap
2n5089 transistor
1n4001 diode

just to let you in on something - the muff fuzz i played with once or twice wasnt actually a fuzz as opposed to an overdrive really. this could have been a faulty unit, i dunno, but definitely look into it before you decide thats your aim.

There are two muff fuzzes -- one has a pair of 2N5133s the other has a 4558 dual op-amp and a pair of 1N34 diodes...

yeah, I put a 386 behind the tranny, and it boosted the sound greatly.

I had good results with the Buzz Box (2x Bazz Fuss). 1N4148 and 1N34A with 2N2222's yielded a raspy, synthy octave fuzz. It screams but forget it if you want to play more than one or two notes at a time. I also tried it with an LED and a 1N4148. No octave, but it was a bit louder, more saturated, and much more useful for playing chords that aren't root-fifth-octave haha.

Shin Ei Companion Fuzz is a easy one, sounds cool too.
