Is such a thing possible?

what would the tempo control? the rise/attack rate, so that faster = quicker rise from no volume to full, slower = opposite?

That's what I would guess. The only thing I know of that is close to that is the Hollow Earth by
cloudscapes. Check it out:

I'm not sure of any mods for the SG-1 though.

actually, modding a slow gear for a tap tempo kind of thing would be pretty groovy. Or any slow gear mods at all, really. I'm interested in this a lot, so.. bump.

I saw a slow gear thread so I may as well ask this. Apparently, the Boss people were told to make another pedal using the same circuit, so they chose the Noise Gate NF-1, but just reversed what it is supposed to do... Does that mean an NF-1 can be easily modified to an SG-1 with a few componets swapped?

Looking at the service notes, the circuits are damn close. The NF-1 has some extra component in it, but the service notes don't identify it well. All I know is that it works as a variable resistor.

As for tap tempo... it looks like a simple analogue envelope control, so I wouldn't think it would be that practical to figure out. I'd imagine once you added the tap-tempo control, you would have basically changed the entire pedal.

Hmm... Would that mean if you own an NF-1 you could potentially mod it for a switch that changes it from Noise Gate to Slow Gear?

tap tempo/hold time is super hard to mod in, and usually involves programming chips.

yeah, sometime in the near future i plan on getting a lazy sprocket and modding it at least a bit.

If we're going in that dirrection, there's also your volume pot.

Yeah, I've got a volume pedal. It works wonders!
Very user friendly.
