Planning a trip to Japan....

Gonna spend a week in Osaka and a week in Tokyo at the end of May. Anyone else been? What should I do/check out while I'm there?

I've been to Japan three times. Each trip was for tour, so I never got a ton of free time.....but in Tokyo, I used to hunt out record stores. There are a bunch in the Shibuya and Shinjuku districts.....lots of killer specialty stores. There are stores that I used to hit that carry nothing but bootleged live shows and stuff (but these days you can get all that stuff on the web for free.)
There is a chain of popular music venues called Club Quatro, both in Tokyo and Osaka...check who's playing. It kind of THE place. Liquid Room In Tokyo is another hip venue.
I got trashed in a fun little bar in Osaka called 'Rock Rock'. The DJs blast nothing but rock...and lots of musicians on tour get taken there after the show, or on days off.
Oh, and if you like electronics, head to "E Town" district of Tokyo....you can get the latest tiny camera, phone, recorders, whatever, months before they're available here...and for cheaper.
That's a I can think of right now.
Have a good time. And make sure you hook up with a local that can show you around (very important!)
