that's what i think. my girlfriend isn't a fan, though...she loves summer and has Seasonal Affective Disorder so it literally makes her less happy when the days get shorter. i try not to be too glowing about the season around her, but i'm off to look at leaves soon. it's still a bit early here, but within the next couple of weeks it should get good.

Actually right now I totally enjoy playing all the Game Boy classic games that I have missed all the decades. I still love this small console to pieces.

There are lot of good "dx" and quality improvement hacks for classic gameboy games too. I think there was just a DX hack that was released for Mole Mania? What's your preferred way to play? I'm playing on a gameboy pocket color with an everdrive x7

My favourite unit is a Game Boy Advance SP with a modern IPS display that was modified by a professional technician. The display has nine brightness steps that can be selected by the standard button that normally turns the light of the normal Advance SP display on or off.

He also installed a hidden switch that I can activate with touching the upper right of the back of the display and it shifts through eight colour modes (normal, b/w, and six modes that are based on single colours like blue, yellow and red). That was done, because once when the rechargeable battery was low it shifted to a b/w mode. So should that ever happen again, I can use the touch switch. I use it regularly to shift it to red colour mode when I'm playing in the dark - it's really much better for my eyes that way.

Although there are a few really nice Game Boy Advance games I mostly enjoy the classic Game Boy modules. Somehow the games of the first years are so much more enjoyable for me.

Recently I bought some modules that I loved to play in my childhood and early youth, like "Kid Dracula" that a cousin had back in the day. Or Metroid of the cool Game Boy Advance "NES Classics" series and "Metroid II" for the classic Game Boy. I also rebought "Itchy & Scratchy's Minature Golf Madness" that I had bought for cheap a few years ago, but I stupidly sold it on again for a low price, not having noticed that the price has gone through the roof in the meantime.

Some modules cost next to nothing and then again others - like "Mole Mania" that you mentioned - fetch prices that are purely crazy, like Mega Man IV and V for example. I keep my eyes open for good deals, but a lot of people in Germany do that as well. So it's really hard to get lucky and grab some gems for cheap. "Kid Dracula" and "Itchy and Scrathy" were both over 50 EUR each. Groan!

i am a big fan of the clarity of the original reflective GBA screens + the frontlit GBA SP. the IPS screens to me have blurry motion and blown out colours. although i am very interested in the colour shift options you describe.

i treated myself to a GBA everdrive and i really should get the GB/GBC one as well. i love my GBAs. i just wish the screens were about 50% larger for my ageing eyes!

retro games fans should definitely get UFO 50 on steam/switch. some phenomenal stuff in there!

i like to think that i'm learning as i keep going along. granted, i'm not always learning things i want to know, but hopefully i'm being better to others.
