I keep figuring out different versions of the same songs

The chords of Vapour Trail started on the E instead of the C minor 7 is Teenage Wristband. Trying to grab some stuff to mess with on the Reface CP, New Orleans Instrumental No. 1 is in spitting distance of Njósnavélin.

Do you find yourself repeatedly working out the same thing over and over like this? I know, there’s only so many notes and so many ways of combining, but it’s like similar things get stuck in my head until I can unwind why.

not so much lately, but it's always amused me to point out that the bridge of "Don't Look Back" is "Stop! In The Name Of Love" and that the turnaround in "Interstate Love Song" is Jim Croce's "I Got A Name."

sometimes i feel like i've been making variations on the same song/beat for years and years

another different but similar thing
is that i tend to naturally gravitate to minor scale
so sometimes i try to do something with major try to break out of the usual kinda thing
if/when i figure out something cool only to realize that somewhere i switched it up and am just playing minor in a different way
not a terrible thing but amusing nonetheless
