Like I don’t mean to offend anybody but their videos are creepy.

Like I can feel the one dudes wet breathing through the tv. It unsettles me.

Like I feel as though the business dads that come to my local bar with their giant Indiana jones computer satchels go home at night and, in between teams meetings, they turn on pedal partners, fire up their dr Z and their suhr jazzmaster, and learn “the secret to gaze reverb”

I hope those Indy larpers are having fun (Douglas Pouch'd)?
We've seemed to have traversed th' hump that is remembering that most shoegaze was created with bunk junk gear at all the wrong settings, but $250 to forget (or not recall) seems pretty steep, nonetheless.
It is the right colour, at least, rite?
Anyways, they are in cahoots with the Life Is Unfair ppl, who, from last I remember, were the most recent licensees of the Devi Ever brand make/models, but seem relatively sane otherwise
Back to pouch, I'd like to also admit that moist of us here are probably veering on Spielberg-era ankle ventilation systems when it comes to footwear, but then again

It’s a bit like kids trying to authentically recreate sixties blues rock when I was young, I guess. I file it under “mostly harmless” since I’m pretty open to content where people straightforwardly unpack how they’re pulling sounds, which they do. The musical vein is completely derivative, but, yeah, that’s YouTube.

folks with a YouTube channel who do shoegaze-themed FX demos where they try to use modern pedals to recreate the sounds of Slowdive, MBV, et al. you'd think this would be right up my street given my love of Slowdive, but there's something about their demos that doesn't sit right with me in some kind of "vibes, maaaaaan" way i can't explain.

I understand that they sent a cease and desist to another youtube personality who used a phrase similar to "does it shoegaze?".

Reminds me of the "Does it Doom" Youtube channel. Something about it doesn't sit right with me but I have trouble articulating it beyond the level of "this is corny."

Cynical cash-grabbing for something that should be fun, perhaps?
