Ampeg Reverberocket vs. Fender Twin Reverb

I though it would be an interesting shoot out. I'm selling my current amp to finance a nice Fender Twin or Super Reverb of some kind, maybe a Bandmaster or Showman. The Reverberocket have been appealing to me latley too. I play surf-insipred shoegaze, basically I like very sparkly and twangy tones, that I can add tons of fuzz and reverb to (think Raveonettes here). Just wondering what you guys think is better.

I'll give my 2 cents as I own both a twin reverb reissue and a '71 super reverb and played pretty much exclusively through a reverberocket this summer.
Twin Reverb:
If you want zero break up and a somewhat "sterile" tone that you can layer on with pedals to sculpt your sound, this is your best bet. Sterile is kind of a harsh word, but the tone of the amp alone isn't really unique or anything, it's mostly just LOUD and CLEAN. It takes pedals amazingly well and I've had close to zero issues with mine (tore a speaker and replaced tubes). Just buy vintage or used...they are NOT worth the current retail price of almost 2 grand.
Super Reverb:
Favorite amp, hands down. Clean like the Twin, but will break up with single coils around four or five, and by that point it's pretty fucking loud in a small room. The break up is so pleasing too, very dynamic...you can still play clean on 10 if you don't pick hard. It takes pedals just as well as the TR if not better (I like a bit of dirt in front of my fuzzes). The tone alone is astounding and much more responsive (if that's something you're interested in) than the TR. Plus, personally, I like the sound of 4 tens better than 2 twelves. If you're worried about loosing some bass with smaller speakers, my SR puts out gobs more bass than my TR. I haven't tried the reissue, but I got my '71 for more than half the price of a new one, so if you can find a deal like that goffer it.
Reverberocket:
Immensely cool amp. Clean but somewhat more sparkly and present than the fenders. Breaks up around the same place as the SR and isn't quite as loud as either of the fenders (at least the models I've played through). Takes pedals really well, great with fuzzes. Sort of adds a different presence to the fuzz, very cool. It's definitely a unique sound on its own...doesn't really sound like another amp...I'd say a mix between Vox and Fender. I don't really know what the prices are like on these guys, but I have a feeling they're a bit cheaper than fenders just because of the name.
So basically it's up to what you want. The TR is definitely the most 2D sounding but it offers a completely clean canvas to paint your sound with. It'll basically just amplify your pedal's sound. The SR and Reverberocket are more 3D and sparkling, still take pedals well but have they're own sound to begin with. No matter what you decide, you will get a loud clean amp that takes pedals well.
hope that helps!

Reverbrocket has such a great crunch distortion and a great clean. Fenders sounds so good through them.
Of course Fender on Fender sounds awesome. I'm not sure which way to go, because IMO they are both sound perfect.

Thanks MBT! That was extremely helpful. I think I'm gonna go with a the Reverberocket (worth around $600), I do want a nice clean amp to put pedals into, but I use clean tones too so I want a nice well rounded unique clean tone. The only problem is I'm in a 2 piece so I'm worried the Ampeg might not fill out as much room. Perhaps I would rock an extension cab...

I play a Jazzmaster and an Airline w/Jaguar pickups, also probably getting some sort of Gretsch hollowbody or maybe even Rickenbacker soon if that helps. Don't forget though, although I'm trying to decide between the two, it's still just a battle of two classic amps, give your personal preferences!

Well, it's more of a Jazzocaster, it's a Jagmaster with 60s Jazzmaster pickups.

But yeah, the damn Reverberockets seem damn hard to come by so I might have to settle for a Super Reverb or a blackface Bandmaster a guy is selling near me.

Difficult decision.
You’re comparing greatness with greatness.
The Super Reverb is one of the all time great amps. Jazz, Blues, Rock just come naturally.
The Reverberocket has a nice clean Sparkly and warm at the same time. Beautiful jazz sound and better sounding reverb, breakup from the 7591s (they just don’t sound right with any thing else) is nice and smooth, less crunchy than a Fender.
I love both.
The Twin and Showman is essentially the same amp, combo vs. head.
The Bandmaster and Pro Reverb are similar to the Super but with a tad less power and don’t break up quite as nicely. Still very nice amps.
I think I’d get the Ampeg first and then get a Super Reverb or which ever one was being offered at a good price and save up for the other one.

Oh sneaky sleeper amp.
The ’80s Fender Concert, a Super Reverb on steroids.
Change the coupling caps between the PI and power tubes to .1 uf and it will sound very much like a silver face SR.
And at ½ to 1/3 rd the price of a Super Reverb.
