Power Boostin', Overdrivin', Colorsoundin'

So vidret wanted to hear what i thought of the BAT Black forest he gave me for satan's mass and I have spent some time with it and compared it to my KO Amps one. They are very different to begin with, they are voiced for different thing and the KO Amps on has a charge pump so it runs on twice the voltage. Still it is the same circuit and it is fun to know the differences. Right out of the box I felt the Forest was a little more "behaved" than the KO one. More overdrive sounding and less idk what to call it (pirate radio transmitter?) than the KO. The depth switch sure ads to this feel since you can lap out lows it can get chuggy wiht the gain cranked; The KO amps booster gets too bloated to get any defention when going faster. Not that it is a bad thing, just different flavours of violent.
Back to back the difference was pretty obvious, the KO had much more extended frequency range than the BAT and provided more clean volume and clang. This may have to do with the voltage providing more headroom but it may just be a voicing question. The low end was a little tricky to compare as i hadnt got the depth switch down. I am still unsure where stock is and what is stockn't. I feel the lows were pretty equal and I could get them fairly similar in terms of rumbly lows, probably even moreso if I adjusted the output to match better.
They reacted to buffering pretty similarily, I used a Hardwire Digidelay for this as it is the only pedal i think i have where i can switch a buffer on and of easily without unplugging something. However the BAT behaved more when I worked the strangle switch on my Jaguar it dint get as lofi as the KO did.
The BAT also excelled in boosting other dirt, I found the KO got very noisy and squealy if I pushed a fuzz with it. I haven't done the test with a fuzz face which sounds killer but has loads of issues when stacking. May do later if I feel like it.
Both are pretty awesome and different enough I could easily use both, could look into a third...

don't have much more to say.
