chill

I've started to bring a "chill" tent to some events here and there, just as a gift back to some of the communities I appreciate and dabble in. I project visualizations on the ceiling (using Resolume, nest drop, edited movie clips etc) and play shuffled chill-ish music (idm-ish, moody indie, 90's positive vibe hip hop etc). I try to keep it non-cheesy and non-grating. And it's a setup and forget thing, don't want to work too hard on it while there.

Just curious if any of you have any recommendations for some more music like this that I should be considering. The following populates most of it, though there are lots of other little albums here and there by various folks:

aleksi perala (everything)
a sunny day in glasgow
a tribe called quest (early)
barker
beach house
black moth super rainbow (everything)
boards of canada (everything. biggest fascination over the last couple years. missed them originally and now can't stop listening to them)
bowery electric (everything)
brian eno (another green world)
carmen villain (everything)
casino versus japan
clutchy hopkins (everything)
contact field orchestra (everything)
coppice halifax (everything)
deepchord
devendra barnhart (early)
digable planets (everything)
floating points
freescha (everything)
gas
iron and wine (early)
isan (everything)
jan jalinek
joanna newsom (milk-eyed mender)
keef baker
lackluster
lorn
loscil
low (especially first few albums)
maayan nidam
manymanyhaha (whoever this jackass is, like the music )
marissa nadler (everything)
mazzy star
milieu (everything)
mogwai (come on die young)
moon duo
mrs jynx
orange crush
pale sketcher
plaid
red stars theory
scorn
seattle symphony orchestra's renditions of alan hovhaness
secede
shit and shine
slowdive
sounds from the ground
sugar pie desanto (from the basement tapes)
the black dog
the flaming lips (embryonic)
the flashbulb
tobacco (everything)
to rococo rot (everything)
ulrich schnauss (far away trains passing by)
valium aggelein
warmduscher (tainted lunch)

I think that's an apt description. Checking it out now and I like it, thank you!

I've also included some of the Okta stuff, especially the more almost mid-tempo percussive songs from this last one, fits in really well.

"BG-C"?

Ahhh, there's a hidden video there!

For some reason, I don't see youtube videos on ILF most of the time unless there is a link. Sometimes they appear magically but most often....nada

I'm watching that video now and it is reminding somewhat of Kath Bloom and especially her stuff with Lorrain Mazzacane Connors

The Young Gods is what comes to mind. Some albums have a bit more "aggressive" material but the Second Nature album is full of mellow electronic rock. Like these three:

They all do, thank you for the suggestions. I've listened to that macaroom album a couple times now, there's something about listening to a soothing vocalist in a language I don't understand that I enjoy

I don't know why I've never listened to The Young Gods before. I like Swans and Killing Joke, who orbit a similar universe. I listened to Second Nature, I like it and I can say why you say that after to listening to some of the other records. He definitely was going for a less aggressive vibe on that one. Thank you!

Some Ghost Funk Orchestra stuff is pretty chill, and features at least one OG ILFer on guitar (sadly, while we're FB friends, I can't remember his ILF handle for the life of me): https://ghostfunkorchestra.bandcamp.com ... nd-of-love

Don't know if Ghost, the Japanese psych folk band, counts. Not super chill (especially after Kurihara joined), but I like 'em:
