VT40?? V4?? V5??

Hey all

I figured there's a better chance of someone on here having owned at least a couple of these

Playing a baritone in A standard and I want something to run clean with pedals taking care of dirt. There's a VT40 head with a price I like but kinda think my tuning needs more headroom

V4 seems like the ideal but a bit outta my price range :picard:

Found a V5 with free shipping but supposedly it sounds like a marshall or fender :idk:

Anyone used these in a band context? Thoughts? Opinions? Riffs? Tips?

V4 is loudness so i think the vt40 will work fine with the right cab. V5 is not at all like the V4s so i wouldnt go for it

Kewlio, 212 will be the move for now, have you heard/played the V5?

The difference in max output between a VT40 and a V4 is going to be like 3dB, and I think they have the same preamp section so you shouldn't run out of front end headroom any sooner on one than the other. I've never seen a VT40 head before, assuming it's a chop job? But yeah, a cab with slightly more efficient speakers would probably go a long way.

No! Entirely on prejudice and schematics.

But if you say it sounds like a marshall/fender (bassman?) it's not gonna be like a v4. It's its own thing
