I think it was a french band
starting with A?
Album had a blueish cover with... an arrow? a feather?
Goroth liked it a lot
Alcest would fit sonically more than Aosoth, even though Arrow In The Heart has both blue & arrow on the cover...
Am I just imagining/confusing/misremembering things?
Or does someone know what I'm talking about?

I'm posting this excerpt from the dm to goroth
in the hopes it might clear things up for potential other helpers:
"I might be really mixing a batch of muddied waters though,
because me remembering & wanting to find that mystery band came as part of a double mistaken identity:
I was asked if I knew Alcest and said "yes! Stare Into Death And Be Still!"
When I look up the album "Oh, that was Ulcerate, not Alcest"
So I was sure Alcest was the mystery band/album but the covers didn't fit,
The Art for Aosoth would fit, and although the more I listen to it the more I tend to think maybe this is the one,
I really remembered the album less blast beaty, possibly sans voix
or maybe my old brain is making memory salad"

and I would have thought it to be more recent than
IV: Arrow in Heart
but probably before pandemic
(listening to Ahab now)

The only album I can think of is Arrow in Heart. I've looked through a few older playlists but there's nothing matching. I think you're going crazy old mate.
Still. Ulcerate, Aosoth and Alcest. That covers a lot of musical territory and they are some good bands.

That is very well possible
I'll be 50 soon enough

Indeed, and my confusing those three into one band had me exploring that territory a little more thoroughly than the more cursory looks before,
so some good has come of that...
I'm more and more convinced Arrow in Heart was the album I was thinking of & I just remembered mostly the gazey instrumental parts
Thanks for checking in & trying to help

nope, it was not. Another band I haven't heard of before.
But yes, oh yes, I can dig it.
Amesoeurs rocks
And had I encountered that album art in a store...
I would have given it a spin

I was hoping there would be some resolution to the main question.
Foiled!
