Ditch a fuzz for an OD?

Yes, this might sound blasphemous on a forum such as this, but I've been thinking about getting rid of my Bass BMP and replacing it with some sort of relatively inexpensive overdrive. I just heard a short clip of the Rockbox Boiling Point and it sounded freaking amazing, though it's overly expensive. Any of you have suggestions of what might go well with the fuzz of a Clari(not)?

I guess people like the fuzz enough to make me keep the Bass BMP on the board. Still, anyone have a suggestion for a good overdrive pedal?

KP! if you actually like overdrive that is. Myself, I have given up on it. Atleast as part of my rig.

I second you keeping your BMP, I don't know much about overdrives though...

The BBMP is a good pedal, not a great pedal but a good one, I really like it at low gain settings for nice texture addition without totally fuzzing your sound. That said mine is in a box somewhere.

I love making huge loud destructive noises with fuzz as much as anyone else on this forum, but sometimes it's just not practical, I use overdrive just as much, maybe even more than i use fuzz.

Ah yes but you see most fuzzes have gain controls which you can turn down

My main "fuzz" sound isn't over the top at a, it just adds the right amount of grit to my sound, which is what I tried to do with ODs, it's just I never had a sound I was really happy with that didn't sound like someone [everyone] else uses on bass, now the second fuzz on my board run into the main one, yes, verydestructive

i like the lovepedal amp 50 - real simple and sounds great

and there's always gearmanndude's luther drive, which sounds pretty damn sexy if you ask me.

I do love overdrives.
But every time I find one I really like and can recommend, it gets discontinued, or costs way too much.
The tech 21 Double drive had some nice sounds in it.
Every one of Barbers sounded really good although the non bass ones did loose low end.
The Linden drive is very nice.
The Stupid box sounds fantastic, but also looses low end.
KP basic great sounding od and the DB does a nice thick overdrive, although I use it more as a post effect boost than an od .

I have to say that the Electric Brown is a fantastic overdrive. I
love its tone, even better than the KP. Then again, I like slightly darker tones than most of the treble junkies around here

Anyone know of anything close to this without being $400?

Try a Sam Ash/Astro Fuzz (clone) like Ronsound's Teaser/Ashtro. Low gain, nice crunch, not as boring as OD. Listen to Tommy Bolin to hear what it sounds like. Just sold my Ronsound, but have another clone by Jim Roth from Built to Spill that's not leaving my board...ever. Great sound.

Are you specifically looking for a bass overdrive or you just happen to use a bass fuzz with your guitar?
Anyhow, why not an
EHX OD? At least they won't break the bank.
