So yeah, my attempt at an ILF-style title there. If you like Godsmack, that's fine by me, even though I'm guessing you might stand alone on that......
Either way, I've been getting into soundtracks a lot lately (I think). What are some of your favourites?
For me it's (the obvious ones); Twin Peaks (listening to it while typing this) and Blade Runner, but I also really like "Apan" by Erik Enocksson (though I've never seen the film) which is a really nice droney piece. What else should I be checking out and why? Which are the obvious ones I'm' missing and what are your perosnal faves and how would you describe them? Also, have you seen the series/film, is it as good as the soundtrack and is it worth watching? Discuss!

And yeah, if there's already a thread dedicated to this, I'm sorry. I couldn't find it. Sountracks for video games etc also welcome of course! Maybe even theme songs/single songs attached to movie or game releases too. As long as we discuss whole soundtracks too! Go!

First one that popped into my mind:
Listened to this hundreds of times independent of the film. Was one of my fave Ornette albums for a while.

That's a little unfair on Sevendust though, right? I mean, at least Godsmack had a hit? Surely that makes them more okay to dis? Or is that why they're better then Sevendust?
Good start to the thread people (haven't seen Naked Lunch for ages, need to rewatch that and have NEVER seen Jaws, so should prob dig into that too), but don't forget to type why you like what you post or at least something other than just a vid, to keep the discussion going (or start one?). A thread were people simply post just a song or name or a pedal etc quickly turns into a facebook pedal/gear group, and we don't want that, do we? Or maybe we do... Do we?

It probably doesn't fit the rules of the thread, but Stalker by Robert Rich & Lustmord is one of my all time favourite ambient records, and obviously a lot of the source material comes from the Tarkovsky film. It does a great job of capturing the same weird space, which I haven't really found anywhere else.
Also worth considering: the fact that the film only contains ~4 pieces of music, so it can't be said to have much of a soundtrack.
However! You shouldn't sleep on the Edward Artemiev track Meditation from the original film (the other songs are Bolero, An die Freude, and the French national anthem, which are nice, but not exactly tied to the special unique space that the film occupies in the same way as Meditation).

So I'm going to follow d.o.s' lead and cheat as well (even more cheating since it's less based on the movie samples ). Tapping The Conversation by The Bug is a really cool sidecar to the movie. The sound design in the movie is of course fantastic too.
i'm bad at paying attention to soundtracks, but one movie where I remember enjoying the soundtrack in particular recently is There Will Be Blood. Turns out the score is by Jonny Greenwood. What a second life that guy has!

Arrival and Stalker are both on my watch list (which means it'll happen in the next 10 years, I'm not exactly the film/series binge watching kinda guy).
Good cheats though, guys. I like it!
And oh, I remembered one more I dig! The soundtrack to Hyperlight Drifter is amazing. But you all probably knew that. I listened so much to it before buying and then playing the game I've had to take a break from it not to wear it out. The art style of the game obviously helps make it sound good, but yeah, are really solid OST.

oh yeah the art and soundtrack of that game are something else. Really fun experience - I don't even love that sort of game that much, but the entirety of the design made it really compelling.
