So I just noticed that a pedalboard and pedals I recently acquired have the hook side of the velcro on the pedalboard and the loop side on the pedals and it has me questioning my choices as I've been doing the opposite on all my gear
What do you do?

That has happened to me once. Was weirded out but at the time I had that good 3m shit on my pedalboard so it didn't matter. It all worked

Hook goes on the pedal unless you are a flatearther.
Not just for pedalboards but if your cabs a covered in turtlefur you can stick your pedals to your cabs when you need to

3M dual lock is the best.
If you want stuff that isn't the best then this is the correct answer:

I didn’t even know something like this existed, but it would solve all my problems

This is the shit right here.
I actually don't mind normal velcro, but one summer I left my pedalboard upright in the rehearsal room for a week or something, and I came back and gravity had pulled everything apart and there was shit glue all over the place. I got furious, cleaned off all the pedals and the pedal board, wasted dumb money on dual lock and have never looked back. It doesn't melt and you need a screwdriver to get the pedals off, which always makes me feel better at gigs that no-one is just going to yoink a pedal.

Haha I did this for a gig once, tiny floor space in the bar and only one fuzz pedal

Imagine a speaker cabinet with an integrated place for your pedals? Like a secret compartment?

Dual lock is the shiaat.
Had it on 2 pedals without knowing it, I could throw kicks at them and they didn't move a millimeter. Started to use it on almost every pedal since then.
