GAS is one hell of a drug.
Just curious if you any of you are thinking about blowing up your set up and going something different
I do this monthly and then do nothing about it.

i've done the full sell-off multiple times. i honestly don't really miss the stuff i've had, previously, but i could easily use pretty much any set up i've had over the years & be able to make music.
so, that has taught me that it doesn't matter that much what i'm using, as long as it's sized appropriately for the musical context.

I frequently put stuff on Kijiji (the Canadian Craigslist) and then ignore the lowballers, receive a bunch of shit trade offers and then delete the listing.
And then three months later I do the exact same thing.

I just did this! Probably spurred by the stress of looking for a job after 4 years as a 'stay-at-home dad' (turns out, that process sucks
even more in 2021, after 4 years off, with an art degree and a scattered resume of who-gives-a-shit day jobs!). Sold my Moog Grandmother and my 2011 EGC Standard, two things I had been thinking I would hold onto forever. Took a full 10 years to admit to myself that the metal neck just isn't as comfortable in my hands as my old SG was.

And with the Grandmother, I convinced myself I'd be fully covered (and have even more Eurorack control options) if I turned it into a Minitaur and a Keystep Pro.
Your mileage may vary, but I definitely felt more free letting those things go, and like I could start focusing more on the "songs" than the gear. ...for about 5 minutes, before I started looking at what to get instead.

Funny you should ask. I'm planning on giving away 3 out of my 5 electric guitars and 1 of my 2 basses.
I should sell off my Peavey head and cab, it takes up so much room and I don't have occasion to use it, at this point I probably never will.
I can and should probably sell off a bunch of pedals too. I'm less motivated to get rid of those because 1) pedals and 2) collectively they only take up the space small trunk

I've got 2 basses. I only need one. I have a Bass VI with sentimental value, but I don't use it. I have two pedalboards that could have been one. Basically, I plan on letting half of my stuff go to fund projects for Digita Flora FX, but I'm still doing school stuff for another 6 months before I really go all in on that venture. Soon, relatively soon.

All of this stress about flipping shit results in me not creating anything and making my string things go
BRRRRRRR BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
This week is about fipping various pedals only to want them later and too expensive. Next week is about me not wanting to fuck around with my Floyd Rose but I love the rest of the instrument.

i'm feeling such despair about being 65 in a month and without musical prospects that i'm half-tempted to go back to where i was in c.2000 when my 1968 ES-335 is fixed soon, just that, a Strat, and a couple of acoustics. i'm never going to play in another band, and i can't really even find people to play with whose playing i enjoy. the thing is, though, that most of my stuff has little resale value and the amount of hassle involved in selling it puts me off so much that i don't want to deal with it. maybe i'll feel better about it someday. or maybe i'll take a carload of stuff up to Atomic Music and get whatever i can for it.

I'm close to selling anything that would free up some money to get the things I want. Unfortunately, I don't want to sell a single thing, lol

My problem is I don't value the money I'd get for most stuff as much as the piece of gear itself. Obviously that's easier to say now that I'm more financially stable too. That doesn't necessarily mean I use everything, but I have this dumb idea that I eventually will or that it'd be too hard or not worth finding that particular piece again if I wanted. Prime example: my Goatkeeper V2. I use it like once ever 14 months and decide it's cool and then put it back in the box.
But of course I have the recurring thoughts of a massive blow out but am simply too lazy to do anything about it. Also, I get waaay to attached to stuff. Not that I've ever regretted a sell, but I always think I would. Owning all this cool stuff is still somewhat to big of a piece of my "identity". Which is really stupid tbf, but that's the way it is.

First time now I'm thinking about selling all my pedals and then buying Line6 Helix rack or similar rack processor

I've sold a number of pedals recently and for the first time in a long time bought a couple of guitars.
The pedals I have left (and there are still quite a lot of them

) are mostly ones that I'm not using much but don't really want to let go of.
I've got a couple of things I'd like to buy but I'm in the fortunate situation that my late father's flat has finally sold and I should have a fairly large amount of money coming in the next week or so.
So all I need to do is be patient, but I do feel like a kid a couple of weeks away from a birthday who wants his new toy now.

Currently in the process of selling nearly everything I own before moving continents for the half dozenth time.
Things I've learned so far:
- selling gear to non-ILFers is a pain in the ass
- anything can be replaced or substituted, except an OG ProCo RAT
- focus less on financial losses taken on the gear, and more on the time lost on buying+flipping
- less is more
- more is more

I’m down to 10 pedals now, and have a couple more to sell. I’m only keeping what I often use and truly get the feels from.

i have four shoeboxes of pedals i'll probably never use again, but the hassle of selling them is too much to take. i also have a ton of old clothes i could sell on Poshmark, but the amount of hassle involved isn't worth the money i'd get back.
