Mini Setup Almost Complete. Wise words needed.

:hello:

I wanted something I could kinda backpack around to shows, so I scaled down and throught hard.

First off , I’m running two Fender Telecasters, (Standard & DADGAD) and my only other guitar purchase I’m interested in right now is something 335-ish but not $3.5kish.

Pedalboard wise, we’re running a Smallsoun/Bigsound F*ck Overdrive into a Caroline Shigerharu, a Dr. Scientist Tremolessence, then to a Strymon El Capistan and I’m up in the air a Neunaber Immerse opt a Dr. Scientist Atmosphere.

I lean heavily going toward the latter, as The Tremolessence is my favourite pedal.

I have a Wilson Freaker off board out in front, and a Boomerang III Phrase Looper in the back, which I use some of my other weapon and buttons on to affect loops when I’m going stereo.

All of this goes into a the front end Gibson GA-8 from 1959.

I’m STRONGLY considering switching out the Boomerang for a Chase Bliss Bloop, throwing in a Bogner Harlow, and swapping the F*ck for a Mini.

I don’t feel great carting around a 1959 amp either, so I was having a look at those silverface Princeton Reverbs, and maybe a Strymon Iridium to do guerilla shows.

It’s all gotta fit on a Pedaltrain Nano + (the wah and Boomerang sit off board, which is why I was thinking Blooper.

Last bit of nerdy doom. I’m using a burley Flatliner to power all this, but was wondering if this was something that could be accomplished with a CIOKS of some description, or perhaps on or two of those Strymon power supplies?

I’m working on a project called Two Heavens (DG4LYF) which is spacey Sargent House/Neo Jazz/Black Metal Chord Structures and Progressions influenced stuff, electric finge style occasional ultra heft that gets a little darker than Vantablack.

:)

I’m also using this (albeit with a host more madness after the loop as part of a collaboration with a pretty out there and pretty well known musician around these parts. He has two albums I love parts of, so I’ve roped him into letting me reconfigure his music as a duo experimental setup, Piano, his wild voice and my guitars and textures.

What ya’ll think of the plan? Replacing the Boomerange with the Bloop would lose some functionality but add a lot of opportunities in a smaller Nano+ package. The Princeton I am fairly hooked on. The Iridium just seems to fit the bill for size and mobility.

I’ve been out of the loop because I’ve been far from sober for far too long but that’s over now.

What’s happening!

I regularly use a Nano+ board and have been interested in the Blooper for a long time, and one of the reasons was the amount of features packed in that size, but in the end I decided to scrap it off my list. I could never bond with a looper with two footswitches so close one another, plus what's the use you have for the boomerang? If you're looking for a small amount of features in a similar sized package check the Ehx1440. I bought it last month and couldn't be happier. Longer memory and more slots (compared to the Blooper) and customizable enough.

Re-power supply: i power everything on the small board with a Truetone cs6 and works like a charm.

Ps if you're looking for a way cheaper 335-style guitar check out the Guild starfire IV. Worth more than it costs, has been my main guitar since almost a decade..

Also: add pics! :p

And well, I can never recommend the Atmosphere enough, best reverb of all time to me. Has the right amount of features in the right size, and sounds damn great.

My dude it is good to see you posting again.

I'm going to echo vidret's question from a minimalist perspective: if the Boomerang is such overkill that you don't need it, then is the Blooper overkill? Can you get away with a freeze or a more simplified looper if space is really at a premium?

Also, Pedaltrain Nano(+) is life.

Curious about the Iridium as well. If I were recording, or in need of an ampless straight-to-mixer rig, I'd be all over it.

Don't know if it's too simple for your needs, but I highly recommend the EHX 720. Easier to time/sync loops than with a TC Ditto X2 impo, and so far the 720 hasn't died on me yet. Which is more than what I can say for the Ditto X2. Anyway, if the 1440 is equally user friendly, that might be worth a look too.

It's probably just me, but all those tiny switches on the back of the Blooper would annoy the crap outa me, and they'd make wish I bought a $500 guitar instead.

Can't comment on the Atmosphere. I'm sure it's rad though, based on the clips I've seen. Reverb is also an area where I generally prefer to keep it simple enough to survive a set with just some minor tweaks inbetween songs. If I had to upgrade from my Slö though, I'd probably try do a test drive with a Neunaber Immerse, Eventide Blackhole, or one of the GFI System reverb pedals. They're all considerably cheaper than the Atmosphere, or at least in this part of the world. Crazy powerfull and versatile too it seems.

Cheap but decent ES-type guitar: Gretsch Streamliner. I've got a G2622, which feels like a MUCH more expensive guitar in every way. Well, not every every way, the switch and pots could use an upgrade, but other than that it's a steal.
