Appetite.
Holy shit. I mean, the whole album is fire, but I don't think there is a better A-side anywhere.

Probably the most important compact disc of all time too.
My first 3 CDs: Ride the Lightning, Vinnie Vincent Invasion, Appetite for Destruction. First dozen included stuff like Surfing With the Alien, So Far So Good So What, Persistence Of Time, Passion and Warfare, Seventh Son of a Seventh Son and Delicate Sound of Thunder.
I agree it's untoppaple, but I only experienced it side for side when riding in other people's cars who had it on tape. I do remember that music on the new digital technology seeming like the most amazing thing ever. In 1987-89 I was fresh out of high school, and living in Santa Cruz, living the whole party life that was the standard at the time, in a place that is basically surfing/skating central headquarters of the US and the world. It was like Portland without all the self-importance. G&R was instantly the biggest band on the map, basically from the moment they debuted. I saw them do what must have been one of their very last gigs as an opening band with Iron Maiden in San Francisco.
Tapes whose A sides I wore out include South Of Heaven, Peace Sells, Feel the Fire and Taking Over, Somewhere In Time, Master of Puppets and Ride the Lightning, Hysteria, Dancing Undercover, Shout at the Devil, Lightning Strikes, Yngwie Trilogy, Under Jolly Roger, 5150...

If this is an actual Best Side A Ever thread Appetite is pretty good, but I wouldn't say it's the best A Side ever.
At the risk of being lame and sticking to pretty accessible guitar music: may I instead suggest:
Paranoid?
War Pigs, the title track, Planet Caravan, Iron Man.
The Minor Threat 7" compilation record: Filler > Minor Threat (the song) is pretty unimpeachable.

Paranoid gets bogged down by planet caravan. They should have swapped spots with fairies wear boots.
Bear in mind planet is one is my favourite sabbath songs.
Badmotor… does not Searching with my good eye closed make the preceding two tracks seem a bit weak?
But first four tracks are straight up killer for sure.
Warpsmasher.
There is so much to love about your post. I can’t even start. Amazing.

Fairies is the ultimate ender. They should have swapped it with Electric Funeral, IMO.
How are we counting Double Albums? Sides A & B as "first side"? or just Side A.

No holds barred. If you like the first half of a disc it’s fair game.

Well if we count Superunknown's Disc 1 as "Side One" (and it's a CD -era album so, fair game, I think so I can justify it) that's Let Me Drown through Black Hole Sun.
BadMoterFinger is a better GOTTA GO FAST Side A, for sure.
Overall, Soundgarden: not too shabby. Kim Thayil is God. Etc.

I mean, Badmotorfinger is definitely in the top 5 of my favorite albums of all time, I was just pointing out that those 4 tracks alone are > everything.

Yesterday it occurred me that side A of Rain Dogs is another great contender. Maybe Diamonds and gold is a bit weak but the rest is absolutely stunning.

AHHHHHHHHHHH
Fugazi's Repeater: Turnover, Repeater, Brendan 1, Merch, Blueprint.
But, to be honest, I probably prefer Side A of The Argument now.
As someone who has fashioned my entire follicular aesthetic after Ian MacKaye (

) I am disappoint I didn't go to his other band (but seriously that first Minor Threat 7" is so boss).

Wait, you consider Biotech part of Side A or B? because it's too damn great.
