DOD/Shoe Looking Glass on bass experience?

Yusssss, I'm craving some bass OD and I've always been curious of this one. Problem is, I can't find any clips or even threads about it on the ol' Google. Anyone fucks with the LG on bass? If you leave the bass cut alone, will it still be too thin? Should I just get a Mini? Or join the Klon gang? What about some of Function f(x)'s stuff?

Standard 'dirt pedal with bass' advice applies:
It would work a lot better for bass if it had a clean blend. Bass tends to get lost in the mix quite easily with drive pedals, and a clean blend is the way to keep it there. My two go-to's for bass both have em.

Looking for a lighter drive, not a fuzz. I'm familiar with the whole clean blend idea (tafm is my go-to fuzz on bass with a bit of clean in there), but I'm thinking pretty transparent ODs don't really need that to work well on bass. Like, a SSBS Mini is quite popular among bass players. Not that it's super transparent, but you get the idea. Also, our band is just a two piece, so the getting-lost-in-the-mix problem doesn't apply too much in my case. Anyways, nice looking pedals! Couldn't find the super black on your website using my phone, so idk if it fits what I'm looking for.

Barbershop does pretty and transparent as well as pretty transparent.

I’m obsessed with the idea of the W&C 20v Overdrive - apparently great on bass with lots of headroom. But very pricey!
Personally as a bass player I like the idea of a clean blend but rarely use them. I also love the Boss Bass OD. It’s super consistent and does exactly what you want. I like the EQ cut/boost rather than just a tone knob? I always look at others and then realize I’m just super good with the Boss. Nice classy yellow too.

This is a good one, with a particular grindy sort of sound. Sold it many years ago and still sometimes think about it.

I have one that I use on everything. I bought mine after seeing that deerhoof used them on bass. It sounds pretty nice on bass. The amount of grit it puts out is very contingent on how cranked up the bass knob is. It's pretty got a pretty versatile tone shaping, but does sound pretty unique.

Gonna agree with the ODB-3, but I *still* haven't snagged a Looking Glass (it's bean 85 years....

)

I always assumed that 25V OD was a souped up DOD 250 (but after looking it up again, I guess it's not?!?), but I'ma wait for the Dirge
Power Chungus (an 18V Muff!) insteed mebbe
BIG PIQ AHEAD

Boss LS-2 + whatever drive pedal you like = drive tone and can still dial in clean bass.

Again, not really in need of that clean blend as long as the circuit produces lows, hehe
Hobbes: thanks a lot, mate! You got any sound bites of yourself or any songs from that band where you know it was used?
