Rack Reverb?
So, I'm kinda looking for a reverb pedal at the moment and deciding the prices are pretty crazy on a lot of them and have started flirting with the idea of a rack reverb that's around the same price as a reverb pedal but comes with way more options and (probably) better sound. A Guitar Center around here is selling a Lexicon MX200 for $70.
What's you're opinion on rack reverb/rack stuff in general?

Re: Rack Reverb?
Seriously, in my experience, rack stuff is exactly like non-rack stuff, except bigger and meant to fit in a rack?
I have a top box analog delay which might as well be rackmountable, except it doesn't have rack ears.
Actually, I have it duct taped vertically to the side of my pedalboard so it might as well be a pedal.

Re: Rack Reverb?
never owned a reverb pedal or rack reverb but i have been looking around for a bit. the Lexicon MX200 seems like an extremely good deal for $70. i don't think i ever saw one go for less than a hundo on ebay. the reason why i was attracted to the Lexicon MX200 was becuz it seemed it was the only one that does reverse reverb AND reverse delay at that price point.
basically for me i have been looking at the Alesis Microverb & the Lexicon MX200. though i have decided to save up & get the EHX Cathedral & then get a rack reverb use it as a supplemental device.

Re: Rack Reverb?
my hot rod deville and concert lead have nice spring reverbs in them. my carvin x100b iv has some shitty digital reverb that couldnt suck more. i love reverb and am considering a pedal, but i am used to springs so i dont know what to do....
i have always loved racks!
i like the real ones as apposed to the fake silicon ones!

Re: Rack Reverb?
Yeah, the reverse reverb and delay are what really make it interesting for me. Plus, I believe two effects can be run at once which could make the MX200 both a reverb and delay unit for me. Though, that used one for $70 is missing the power supply, which Lexicon sells for $40 and I suppose would inflate the price to $110 unless I find a power supply around that I have that won't make it explode, or something.less_cunning wrote:never owned a reverb pedal or rack reverb but i have been looking around for a bit. the Lexicon MX200 seems like an extremely good deal for $70. i don't think i ever saw one go for less than a hundo on ebay. the reason why i was attracted to the Lexicon MX200 was becuz it seemed it was the only one that does reverse reverb AND reverse delay at that price point.

Re: Rack Reverb?
So, I took the plunge and $76 later I have an American-made Lexicon MX200 (the newer models are made in China). The only caveat is that it's missing two knobs, although the pots work fine. I haven't tested it extensively yet, but from what I've heard so far I think I made out like a bandit. Even the sales guy was impressed.

Re: Rack Reverb?
dang. what are you gonna do about the power supply? the two missing knobs did not deter you? there is a Emu Mo Phatt synth rack at a pawn shop here & i totally passed up on becuz of a missing knob.
anyway let us know how it sounds.

Re: Rack Reverb?
I suppose to be more accurate I should've said "knob covers", as the knobs are still functional. I'm sure I can find replacements somewhere... As far as the power supply goes, my Digitech GNX4 power supply works with it fine enough.
And from what I've played around with so far I can say that the reverbs sound great. It also has pretty good delay sounds as well as some other handy effects like a pitch shifter, detuner, chorus, flanger, tremolo, and what not. The chorus and flanger don't excite me too much as I already have a Flanger Hoax and DOD chorus, but the pitch shifter + reverb = awesome shimmer and the detuner is pretty neat.
I'm someone that almost always gets buyer's remorse right after purchasing something, but I've yet to get the remorse with this purchase.

Re: Rack Reverb?
The Alesis Quadraverb is also a great Sub $100 rack unit. Great verbs, you've probably heard them before

Re: Rack Reverb?
I have this half rack Yamaha FX500. Nice long reverbs (40 sec. decay), early reflections and crazy echos...and it's cheap !
