Bare Wire Son - Off Black (And the woes of modern media)

I umm'd and ahh'd about whether it would be okay to make my own thread, but some other folks have done it for substantial releases of their own and I'm not new so I hope it's ok!

I've spent the last five years making this album and have done it about as well as I could. I received the help of a whole ton of collaborators and I'm very proud of what they've done. I went out and had it mastered professionally too for a change (Doug Henderson, the guy who's done all the Swans stuff). Recently we had a really interesting thread here about how to promote music in this day and age, which I read religiously and have taken the advice of for a bunch of stuff.

That thread was quite a good reminder of how much I like this place, despite not posting much these days (the usual depression, apathy and reclusiveness) I owe a lot to ILF. I think all of the pedals I used for the album were ones I got here, some of the friends I've bombarded with tracks for feedback over the years have been here, our friend Ibarakishi even does a bunch of stuff on the album. ILF is my friend and I don't mind admitting that I care about your opinion more than a general public one, and would really value some feedback from you.

I have reluctantly (and begrudgingly) uploaded stuff to Spotify if you hate artists and love convenience, but always favour bandcamp for those who hate aggressive consumer capitalism and love high quality audio files and inconvenience.
FFO: Swans, Matt Elliott, Have A Nice Life, not having a good time in general.

I've put a first single up last week, more will be added until the final release date of May 14th. I'm trying to release this album properly as mentioned, so I'm not allowed to just drop it and not tell anyone then wonder why I'm not signed .

Your friend, ILF user Olin.

I listened all the way through because I know good it is to see that green bar in the stats, and because I liked it :)

Listened to the single, very nice vibe, I enjoyed it. Looking forward to hearing the rest! :thumb:

Really enjoyed the off-beat guitar chord part that comes in around 4:45. It's very simple but the tone of it really stands out and adds a lot to the overall sound.

Thank you friends I am glad you enjoyed something, means a lot!

Kate - it took me a weird amount of time to get that tone. I can dial in distortion tones in like 3 minutes and be satisfied but the simpler sounding something is the longer I get stuck on it.

Next song comes out next week and it might be my favourite from this stupid album, there's no guitars on it and it's in Russian. Gotta find a way to alienate the 12 fans that have expectations somehow

Hello again, second single!

https://barewireson.bandcamp.com/track/-

I got absolutely fucked by Landr or Spotify, one of the two. They set the release date as 2019 instead of 2021 so it got missed by everyone's release radar etc. I already don't want to be on Spotify so stuff like that sucks extra hard lol.
I think when I was working on this song I was listening to the Popol Vuh Nosferatu Soundtrack and The Body Lovers, or at least I tell myself that because the influences make sense

Thank u so much! I've kind of disappeared since release and it fell off pretty quickly so it's really great to see you found it on your own.

Thank you as well Kate, really appreciate all of you who took the time to listen.
