i found gene simmons in my cab

So I was tired of looking at the ripped up old grill cloth on the 2x12 that lives in my bedroom and decided to replace it. The cab is an old homebrewed jobber that came with an amp I don't have anymore. The old grill cloth was permanently attached so I cut it out and that's when I saw him.
Gene Simmons. The Demon. Generally gross dude. Villain of the best movie about a cop hunting down fugitive robots in a cyber punk future (RUNAWAY)
I thought about just leaving it exposed but these old speakers have had a hard life and deserve a little coverage. Here's my finished product
Anybody else ever find weird stuff in old gear?

That's amazing! And the finished product is cool too. Nice to see a cab done up a bit weirdly like that

Cool find!
The only thing I've found in old cabs is that they where wired totally different than what it said on the cab.
If you're buying old cabs, always open them up and make sure that expected impedance matches the actual impedance.
Happened to me with 2 412s. Lucky I didn't damage my amp.

at least it isn't like what happened to me. in my cab somebody had siliconed on the speakers cause the mounting cage was busted

yeah this one has an 8ohm and a 16 ohm speaker in series. the last owner was probably using it like that for a very long time powered by the old musicman hd130 that it came with.
