so how hard can it be?

I was thinking of refinishing my boring black Jag bass to some sexy snazzy color.
So how hard can it be? Just unscrew things and move a few wires
7 separate cavities and a little wiring.
This wiring.

it's not hard, but i do recommend springing for high end spray paint (it is cheaper in the end) and using sandpaper instead of chemical stripper (the chemical stuff is nasty and produces uneven results, in my experience). also, don't strip all the way to bare wood, as the lacquer under quote is a really good primer for whatever goes on top.

I wouldn't go with black due to it can be bought in black. I'd get something that can't be bought stock. But thats just me, black is always a nice color for a guitar.

LOL actually the refinishing part is the easy stuff.
I’ve done a couple of basses & Guitars as well as a motorcycle and a GTO so have already made all the beginner mistakes. The experts are correct; shortcuts are not a good idea.
I use acrylic liquor and mix my pigments in clear to get the exact color (colors) I want.
I plan on using Paint with pearls, pigments they mix well, and are beautiful.
http://www.paintwithpearl.com/Check out their colors, I did the Screaming Diva with the Caribbean blue to green color shift.
Layering creates some fantastic results.
I was complaining about the wiring I would have to go through.
Any way I don’t like the bridge and was thinking Kahler so if I do go that way, I’ll refinish when I do the routing.

to my mind, the wiring was the easy part.

looks like you've got it figured out. those colors are amazing. i'd do yellow or orange, or maybe green. IMO fender already has plenty of black, white, blue, and red guitars.

Still haven’t made up my mind yet, but I’m leaning toward an orange, gold, copper combination with matching headstock because I’m so conservative.
