Some Help With Fresh Records

Im working on some Spotify playlists, and I keep running into a snag.

I've got a few various doom/sludge/heavy psychedelic playlist I have split up by region. I'm working on the US one and to be honest, I'm not really catching anything I can vibe to at the moment. The catch is any respective bands first record had to be released within the last 3-4 years.

For example, I've got bands like Toke (who I love), Sorcia, Sixes, Ritual Caster, Heavy Trip, Pyreship, Switchblade Jesus (Eric of Frost Giant's group). I've got the first half of the playlist kinda as your standard thing for those genres, and I'd like the second half to be more your longer heavy psychedelic thing.

Basically, I'm looking to add more tunes to both halfs and I'm asking for suggestions and groups to check out lol

damn I keep thinking of bands and then they turn out to not fit the "new" timestamp or they're not from the US. :(

Gonna keep an eye on this though.

Hmmmm...... “new” heavy stoner/psych from “the US”...... hmmmmmm........

Windhand? I literally can’t think of a single other band that meets all criteria..... tbqh for this sort of genre that’s what they call a BIG ASK.

I know its a big ask, but figured maybe there's a few guys here who might know some good under the radar stuff. They're out there somewhere, just gotta find them (and hope they are on Spotify lol)

I really wish Fog Giant would get on that platform, and Lochness too

What if we extended the range to 5 years? Would that help? Lmaooo

Here's a few I can think of, which may not help much with the psych side of your playlists. All the stuff I can think of from that side is coming out of Europe.

Beastmaker, fairly straight-ahead bluesy-sludge. They've released a buttload of stuff, but they started it in 2018 IIRC.

Adzes, quite a varied output, they've got a few kinda d-beat tracks, as well as some quiet acoustic-ish stuff.

Huntress of Stars, just the one record from last year, doom with a side of cheese. A few guitar harmonies scattered throughout.

Temple of Void, standard death-doom, sounds like it's got a bit of Bolt Thrower - The IVth Crusade worship going on

MSW, I actually don't know anything about this project, other than I heard this record last year, and it's mega. I think the guy behind it has done loads of stuff under lots of different names. This looks like it might be the only LP under this name.

They're all on Spotify after a quick check.

Do you know Blackwater Holylight? according to a quick google for their debut they fit the bill. They're pretty rad.

Buuuuuuuuuuuut (minor complaint incoming)
Perhaps the problem is
NSFW: show
more the fact that it's kind of a creatively dead genre (especially over the last 5-10 years) so anything that's stood the test of time/ is worth listening to is going to be part of an earlier wave most likely.
Like, why would I recommend _insert band_ when I could just tell you to listen to Comets on Fire*, who are still so far ahead of everyone that even though they broke up 12 years ago they're still top of the class.

Not a lot of new heavy psych/stoner whatever sticks after you've listened to enough of it that you can be like "oh yes I also like this record and that record, _insert band)_ I think I'll listen to those instead."

*or Mammatus, or The Heads [not USA], or new Sunburned (they legitimately keep cranking out banger after banger), and so on.

Also, over the same time period, the European scene has been a bit more fertile, as evidenced by DiveBombs' links above. The fact that I have to disqualify a band like Slift even though they're fantastic and fit the bill because they're French is toooough, because I don't automatically assume something that's just "good for an American debut in 2018 or later) is a record that's actually worth listening to

Not the genre swamp I'm in the most these days.. Harvey Milk is my go-to for the sludgy doomer hours. Or Khanate.

Discovered this band recently, it's so not my thing but they're good if you like vintage heavy metal type jams I guess:

The legendary Tor Johnson records (Providence, RI) also releases good, not so trad bands of this ilk:

https://torjohnsonrecords.bandcamp.com/ ... harbingers

Hungry as a mf can't think of any more rn.
