I'm looking for some meditation music recommendations.
Preferably Eastern or Middle Eastern in origin :zen: and not electronic :duck:

A lot of search results are over-produced new agey stuff... boo
What do you guys like?

Maybe this? Love this album, but not sure if it's exactly what you're after.

What time of day do you think you'll be listening? A lot of Hindistani classical music is supposed to be listened to at certain times of day.

While not "meditation music" per se, pretty meditative:

I dig a lot of Moroccan Gnawa music too. :idk: :snax:

the Dhrupad style of Hindustani classical music is great for this. it's very slow moving & textural, so it doesn't get too distracting.

also, Wilburn Burchette made some really weird & interesting music for meditation on homemade stringed instruments & cheap organs in the '70s.

I was gonna listen to this the other day, but it wasn't the proper time of day (sunset or just after):

Starts a little jarringly, but mellows nicely. :zen:

Also, Carnatic classical music doesn't have the same prohibitions of timeliness as their northern neighbors:

There's a lot of Tanpura drones out there on the youtube too, but that might be too minimal for you, espesh given the A+ videos in the thread already.

Obviously I'll suggest that you listen to Bong if you get the itch for something different.

The YouTube channel ‘Sounds of the Dawn’ has tons of fantastic new age meditation music, a lot of it is electronic but not all, they are cassette releases with hiss and warble which adds a lot to the charm, and most of it is not overproduced but rather obscure nobodies who maybe aspired to be over produced someday but if they ever got there it isn’t represented on this channel. Here’s one from last week of gong music:

Sorry walking to work in the snow or else I might try to fix this as an embedded link.
