Been away, in market for a Reverb, no idea whats going on

HELP PLEASE! What has come out mainstream wise, boutique wise. I need DAT VERB in my life again baby!
Off the top of my head, the Earthquaker Afterneath V3 looks enticing cos I've always wanted the old one but HAS ANYTHING COME OUT THAT I'M MISSING BABY?
EDIT: So, looked at all the multi-verbs, Context 2 is enticing me the most. Or the BigSky. The choir mode might take the cake. But I KNOOOOOW the Cathedral and reverse, gate and Granular on that Context would be insane.
The ones on Dr Scientist the Atmosphere do not seem like anything special to me, so no to that. The Empress not impressed either.
I think a lot of this is down to I KNOW Red Panda are the best pedal makers BAR NONE. NO ONE IS BETTER THAN RED PANDA, FACT!
The mercury 7 I know would give that beautiful hi-fi sound, that classy verb feeling, in like classy post rock like on bark psychosis or slowdive.
EDIT 2: A poster asked a great question wwhat kind of verbs I like which I should of specified. Silly me. Cathedral / church verbs, glassy, bell like reverb tone but not shimmery, nothing to do with pitch. So dark verbs are out. Like I dont mind neutral voiced verbs either, just not dark for the sake of dark. Also vocal like reverbs, like the choral mode on the BigSky. Prefer Hi-fi reverbs, NOT lo-fi.

How long you been gone, what sort of rig is this slotting into, what sort of reverb sounds get you tingly, and how much do you want to spend?
The Meris-CBA collab might be what you want or it might blow a giant hole in your budget and fail to give the surf sounds you crave. So it’s tough to answer.

Don't have a ton of experience with all the latest newest reverb peds, but I had an Afterneath V1 for a while. Loved it, just not for 'regular' hall/plate verbs, which I prefered my RV-3 for.
Got a Walrus Slö now. The three modes don't actually sound THAT different. It's kinda subtle, especially with dirt. And I personally don't care at all for the modulation.Still though, I'm liking it a lot, works great for big washy postrock sounds and dreamy eery ambient stuff. The high cut is great to create pad sounds, the decay control has a huge range, the sustain switch is great at the end of a phrase/part/song.
I was eyeing the Pladask Draume and DBA Rooms as well before I bouht the Slö. But the availability, easy of use, pedal board space, price tag...steered me towards the Slö

No way the DBA Rooms is better than Context 2. Theres actually zero chance. Wtf is gong? Seems gimmicky. DBA as a company just dont appeal to me, their sounds dont appeal me. Love the band the guy runs though. A Place to Bury Stranges, great band.
But that Context 2 will be INSANE QUALITY whilst having huge ass cathedral, with the experimental modes like granular which you know from the Red panda Particle will be fucking insane mode. The reverse, gate.
the Draume looks interesting. Is there a demo with some playing chords rather plucking? I cant gauge how a verb sounds or any pedal for that matter properly with plucks and almost no one strums in demo videos like WHYYYYYY, atleast do both in the same demo.
Yoooooo, this demo sold me so much but it could be the playing is soooooo bueaitufl but what the pedal does is fucking isnane holy fucking shit wooow.

Cathedral / church verbs, glassy, bell like reverb tones. Context 2 has that mode, but I KNOW it will be better than any other reverb pedal with something similar. But also that choir mode on the BigSky reeeeeeally appeals to me.
Hmm really liking the EQ sliders on the Meris Chase Bliss colab but the modes... not doing it for me. Does it have cathedral, grain, gate and reverse? Unless there like secret modes on the pedal

I don't think the slo would be for my liking. I think it would too much of a dark reverb it sounds like. I prefer glassy bell like cathedral church reverbs.

Eventide Blackhole pedal was kind of a non-event for most, but may align with interests if you want just that algorithm, want knobs, and need a small footprint. Used Space pedals are close enough in price that most of us don’t get it—bigger, but more sounds.
For algorithmic reverbs of the sort you want, the companies that have been at this still make the old stuff or have done incremental upgrades. One thing I find worth noting, though: I see elsewhere that you’re meh on Strymon. Me too, generally, but the new Night Sky is in the zone of the sounds you want, and I found it more compelling than I thought possible.
I think the Poly Effects Digit is all convolution reverb, which never quite delivers on these sounds IMO. The Empress Zoia allows you to build your own algorithms, which is interesting, but I’m not sure that potential has been delivered on yet—I’m not in deep on the user community since I don’t have one.

you're kind of spoiled for options right now
Context 2 is phenomenal, and while not as weird/funky as the other Red Panda stuff, really knocks it out of the park in an unassuming way
Rooms is very good, very distinct. I personally don't love it after having had it for a little while, but I've been reluctant to let it go
Draume is so good. both Rooms and Draume are great at having both pristine verbs that can get quite dirty/more "in the way"
I just got the Vongons Ultrasheer, which sounds incredible, but is really more of a tabletop device

I don't know precisely how long you've been away but Meris has a reverb pedal that seems good, thats inspired by the bladerunner soundtrack. There is also the instagrammers choice which is that When The Sun Explodes pedal, which perhaps isn't what you want but good to know from a market update perspective https://www.beautifulnoiseeffects.com/s ... -explodes/
Never been particularly excited by DBA rooms, but it is a sound for someone else I suppose. I don't know about context either, I have never been very excited about it.

I had the EQD Afterneath V2 for awhile....it's a great pedal, but i found it had a very slight volume drop that I couldn't iron out, and I had issues with my signal 'leaking' into the circuit while the pedal was off, and then when I would turn it on I would have god awful high pitched oscillation waiting form me. This was when the pedal was set to a spot where it wouldn't oscillate on it's own while engaged, and I couldn't ever find a way around it. I don't think this is normal, or typical....but it eventually wore out my interest in the pedal.
I've got an MXR reverb now. I love it....I use the plate mode, and have an expression pedal set up to swell from medium plate to total drowning-in-wet-signal type sound. I pair it with two different delays and find that the Afterneath sound isn't too far off for me with this set up.
The MXR isn't fancy, but it's got 6 different reverbs and I find most of them are great. I haven't even thought of flipping it, it's been a great addition to my board.
Not sure how long you've been away from this....my first reverb was the TC T2 pedal.....IMO don't bother with that one!

If you like really clean, pristine, hall/plate sounds but would like the ability to weird 'em up a little bit you should look at the CBA Dark World. The Keeley side has three super usable "normal" reverbs, all of which sound fantastic, the cooper side has one a+++ weirdverb and two ones that I've never figured out how to use properly.
I have an older Afterneath and I don't really care for it—but if you're into kinda glacial/epic post rock stuff it might do the job for you. For EQD stuff, I much prefer the (very different!) Ghost Echo.
I've never used a context but the gated setting on that biz sounds AMAZING. It's all over the last couple of FACS records.
The boring answer is to get a Zoom multi-stomp and mess around with stacking a few things together until you find something you like. You can kinda fake the Rooms 'gong' setting with a gated verb into a ring mod. Sounds klangf.
