Beautiful is... should I say it? Yep - it's beautiful. I love these reverb atmospherics you're getting on your acoustic stuffs. I might like to hear a little bit of dry vocal poking out on top of the reverbed vox, but that's nitpicking. Good stuffs!
Lily is most excellent, as well. The vox are especially good here - great vocal tone. Did you double-track your vox on that one? The reverb is making some gorgeous harmonic things happen - I can't tell if there's a lead guitar (or something - it almost sounds like a theremin) going on back there towards the end, or if it's just a trick of the reverb, but it sounds really cool.
Are these building up to a release, or are you just working them up on the fly?

Yeah the vocals are double tracked, one croaked and one falsetto I mixed in the background. Not sure about that theramin sound I may have switched the lead guitar up near the end. I recorded it last April I think so I can't be too sure.

Sort of on the fly, although I have recorded so many Pumpkins covers I was thinking making a CD to hand out at shows would be a cool idea, or to just send out o people on ILf for a dollar or something.

Kewl... well, neither option negates the other, so I'd say do both!

Sick tracks pp. Beautiful was always one of my favorite pretty pumpkin songs. I never would have thought of it as acoustic fare, but it sounds awesome. Do you have enough reverb to do it live? This veersion would destroy an acoustic night or an open mic or something!
One on my side projects is going to play a party halloween eve, and we've decided to go full blown smashing pumpkins cover band, but in a violent stupid punk kind of way.I'm playing the bass and the drummer is singing. the drums are super dance rocky but sloppy, and the bass is being driven to feedback when notes aren't being played. one half finished song slurs into the next and the whole thing takes maybe 15 minutes.
songs we will probably do:
White Spider
Heavy Metal Machine
Aeroplane Flies High
XYU
Where Boys Fear To Tread
Ava Adore
Transformer
The Imploding Voice
maybe one or two more, maybe drop some

Dude Silverfuck is a must. That song kills live, its my favorite way to end a setlist.
As far as Beautiful live... I did two shows with just me on a Danelectro U2 into an Feedback looped Echo and clean boost. Worked out well, I'm sure I could use the echo for the atmosphere.

never realy been too into preMCIS stuff. i'm gonna close with the super poppy imploding voice. better transition back into the party. not too sure how silverfuck would sound without guitar anyway.

Oh didn't know about the no guitar. I just thought it would fit in with Ava Adore and XYU.

I'd take MCIS, Pisces Iscariot and TAFH over Siamese dream any day.

i like siamese dream, but it feels so safe and homogeneous to me. all the songs sound the same a little. MCIS, Aeroplane, Adore, Machina, Friends & Enemies is all so crazy. I like it much more.
yeah, line up is two piece
bass (me)
drums/vox

haha. i've listened to the song maybe a couple times. it sounds all right. maybe if we need more material. right now here's the set i think we're gonna do
Everlasting Gaze
White Spider
Transformer
Heavy Metal Machine
Ava Adore
We Only come Out At Night
Aeroplane Flies High
Where Boys Fear To Tread
X.Y.U.
Imploding Voice
I'm aiming for 20 minutes. no pauses in between songs, no finishing songs.

punk is fun. the technical songs are closer to the front (esp everlasting gaze, probably the hardest of these) then into We Only COme OUt At Night and The beginning of aeroplane which are kind of the "rest" songs for us, then into total angry shitstorm, and back into the light of pop. I think our style doesn't lend itself to the grander end of the pumpkin spectrum.
