Presently interested in the Pigtronix Ringmaster but not finding much online.

The demos I've found seem to emphasize its possibilities as a gimmicky noisemaker. (This tends to reinforce the comments on this board which say that it's hard to get oriented with it.) I heard some interesting snatches in the Mike Hermans and Arne Luebberty YouTube demos but wanted to hear someone taking a more systematic approach to its qualities.

My proposed application is on the storied Bass Drone Channel about which I've ahem droned repeatedly here -- basically, split off the lowest string of the guitar and generate a complex and varied ostinato using a few well-chosen boxes. I'd considered the Earthquaker Data Corrupter but figure it's basically untameable. The Ringmaster seems more amenable to reason.

User comments and/or recommendations to other devices in the same space welcome.

I have said as much in the ring mid thread but while it sounded cool and was fun I did not care for its usability and I recently flipped mine. The concentric pots are very challenging to navigate and there’s..... too many of them? It just seemed like they said “let’s make a ring mid with a ton of knobs!” and just threw in whatever they could. The Randy’s Revenge and the Moogerfooger have less controls but seem so much more versatile and it’s easier to dial in whatever crazy sound you want. While I “respect” their commitment to being pedal board friendly it would have made way more sense to make a bigger enclosure with more spacing and better identified controls.

Plus the 18v adapter! What a pain for the people living in the PP2 world!! No thank you, SIR!!

I also found the “intelligent” ring mod sort of fun but overall I didn’t really like it? I guess I don’t want a “musical” ring mod and I like clangs and robot sounds.

Re ergonomics, I have to defer to you. I've never even seen one, let alone played it.

Re sounds: in general ring mod doesn't appeal to me. The Ringmaster does appeal based on the section of the Luebberty demo in which he makes it sound like a Krimson/Metheny guitar synth. I don't want to sound like Pat or Robert but a pedal which can do spiky squarewave tracking in realtime && robotclanging && sample-and-hold random is definitely of interest provided I can manage to control it.

That seems to be a bit of an issue, however. H'm.
