I am enjoying this wikipedia guitar jam through vintage octavia. I thought you would too. best part is that I didn't have to pay. click the play button on the right side.

Sounds good. I got back into using my octavia recently and it's great for heavy riffs.

That's some pretty awesome riffage! Did you check the uploader's page? They seem to have a pretty nasty taste in fuzz. They have uploaded images of 2 versions of the gnomeratron (if i understand correctly) I hope they are writing an entry for the gnomeratron.
What's with that article though; Envelope generator?

Octave up is done with a full wave rectifier therefore it is almost an envelope follower. An envelope follower is a FWR into a low pass filter. If you don't low pass, you are only adding upper harmonics decreasing the fundamental. A real env follower however removes everything and does a transform of the amplitude which is only one component of the vector. The vector being the function that describes the signal at that instant.
