I'm thinking of getting some footswitch toppers for the footswitches on my true bypass loopers, to make it easier to hit them with my feet... I don't know anything about footswitch toppers (is that what they're called?), or what the options are. I know of Barefoot Buttons, but that's about it. I don't know how to install them, pros or cons of various kinds, etc. So I'm going to do some research, but in the meantime I'd thought I'd ask what you guys like and use. Do they come in different sizes? Do they make footswitches quieter? I'm curious to hear your thoughts!

i have a few metal ones like the barefoot. they more or less work as advertised, though i line the switch button with tape for extra grip. might want some loctite for the grub screws as well.

the plastic ones are probably better in practice? they don't look as nice and the increase to stomp-area is smaller, but once they’re one there they ain't coming off without deliberate force. and they don't marr the foot switch button with a grub screw.

The only acceptable answer is the official ilf barefoot buttons

I have some of those because I was given them. Not really my thing but they do kinda make it easier to hit the switches. Never tried any other kind

@MechaGodzilla I don't think marks left over by them on the switches are visible or will matter to anyone

Don't think you can still get them it was a short-lived thing iirc

I can send anyone a couple though if you really want them haha

I just play barefoot, which makes it a lot easier to hit the pedals

it's definitely visible, even if it doesn't bother me. just something to be aware of if you were putting them on a valuable pedal i guess.

I just got a pedal in the mail today that had one of the plastic ones already on it.. I am unsure if I like it but I think maybe. If I do and want more I feel I will stick to the plastic ones as the metal ones have set screws that can loosen and if you land wrong on a metal out it could mess up your switch but the plastic would break first and just be replaced.. or something

On the other hand... I just got a refund on something I just bought due to the guy trying to remove a plastic one and it breaking the switch...

i'll sell gear to a reprobate any day of the week!

a guy i play with told me that, at a gig, one of the grub screw type toppers came loose. he kicked it and it shot off like a hockey puck into the darkness, never seen again. the CPB ones are like £5 a pop as well!
