new drum machine arrived today


reel 2 reel machines i picked up off CL a lil while ago but didnt get the pics off my camera until today. only paid 50 bones for the whole thing. even got a degausser, which is a large magnet.

i had two reel to reels & got rid of them cuz they were talking up too much space in my room. i should have put them in the garage or something. one of the biggest regrets of this decade for me personally.

it is another reason why i never get rid of shit.

anyway. cheers. good haul!!! i am probably going to have to do something similar--craigslist or thrift store wise--if i want to get some more reel to reels.

im really lovin the mfb so far. stupid easy to use, and program. it feels like a vid game controller in my hands and it sounded bitchin thru my shitty computer speakers, phat kick, nice crispy snare and the hats are awesome. the sound editting capabilities really take the cake too. when i was reading about it on the internets some ppl were complainin about the lack of certain instruments but i made a nice hand clap w/ the snare, and a nice ride w/ the cymbal so its got a lot of bases covered. cant waitto testst it out on my monitors today. will post a couple patterns later on prolly.


as for the reels, i havent actually had the time to properly use them yet when i got em i had some important business looming so i had to set them aside to focus on that shit. i just been cleanin them up and doin research on the webz in the meantime since i really didnt know jack about r2r's. (great set of tutorial videos on ehow.com if anyone is interersted) now im just waitin for my demagnetizing wand to get here so i can do that and then its time for a test run. all in all i think i really lucked out on this one and am super pumped to get into the world of analog tape recordings.

less_cunning: im sorry to hear that but such is life. i too don't like to throw certain things away now cause u never know if/when you'll come back around to it in the future. and ya CL is prolly your best bet for shit like this. ive seen reels in shops once or twice but they always want an arm and a leg for that vintage shit.
