free MIDI to notation for Mac?

I've gotten comfortable writing chord charts and would love to be able write melodic ideas on a staff for them. Technically, I know the the notes of the staff and rhythm values, but have very little practice so it takes me a long time to work it out on staff paper, and then I have no way to verify if I did it right. So I'm basically looking for some software I can play my melody into and get feedback of what it should look like so I can get more comfortable writing it out. The ultimate goal is to be able to sketch out song skeletons when I don't have access to a recording device.

Any ideas what might be a good, ideally free software for a Mac user?

I think musescore can do midi input? https://musescore.org/en/handbook/note- ... i-keyboard I use it for all my transcriptions and arrangements for the brass band, but only with the on-screen keyboard or discrete note entry. Can't tell if the midi input mode is worth much. But since its free, you can just try it.

Yeah musescore allows midi keyboard input, with a couple of modes, one by one input or live recording.
