i've had some success replicating the sharp attack you might get from a piezo with:

-ehx steel leather
-ibanez pd7 using its Attack switch
-sansamp

have any of you endeavored to have this kind of tone without installing a piezo? did you use an eq? boss acoustic sim?

Boss Acoustic Simulator is exactly what you're looking for.

I had the BOSS AC-2. Pretty good, even with bass. I bet a fretless bass can sound like an upright bass with it. But it only takes passive pickups, I think. When I tried my classical guitar with piezo pickup it freaked out. Otherwise a really underrated pedal.
