RQ for weird chorus recommendations

Following the various useful responses to my posts on bringing static Freeze-type drones to life, I've finally taken the hint and started looking at chorus pedals. This is a totally new area for me and I'd love to hear recommendations. Present shopping list is:

* Vibrato switch or 100% wet setting
* Mix knob (or inherently murky)
* Old, quirky, cheap? Yes please

I already have one strong contender but don't want to prejudice this thread by naming it. Keen to hear suggestions.

Not a pedal but the built-in reverbs on the old Peavey Mark heads are the bees knees for this.

so are you getting a cosmichorus or nah?

I dont think you will have an easy time finding an old cheap pedal with a mix knob. Really, the only one i can think of is the big box clone theory and that thing is collectible and huge and mains powered. Though I dont think its a hard task to mod a dod chorus for vibrato or a blend knob for that matter. I have had alot of fun using the alexander marshmallow for crazy chorus sounds and it does alot of more stuff too.

The Alexander Super Neo-matic could be your jam. Hits all the checkpoints except cheap. Though they were limited run, people seem to be flipping them for less than new on reverb still.

Find an old rack delay with knobs and modulation, one that can do low mS delay times. BBD or digital is fine, though most BBD ones are more $$$ these days and only a few digitals have a big following. Doesn’t matter. Almost always for the old ones the dry path is analog, so your mix control can give you chorus with delay and dry or vibrato fully wet.

Regeneration/feedback to zero unless you want flanger sounds.

It doesn't have a mix-knob,
but can do vibrato and can prolly be had for cheap in 2020:
Line 6 Space Chorus.

I was also going to suggest this.

What about a Walrus Julia V1? Cheaper now that V2 is out.
