Fender Blender.

Lots of the more extreme fuzz pedals that have hit the scene in the last few years have been cool, only thing is that most of them are a pain to use or too wild to actually use in any live situation. The Fender Blender sits somewhere between both these levels, it can take you into the wild side and still maintain it's organic feel.

alright. so basically i have been somewhat obsessed lately w/ the Rat, the Big Muff & the Fender Blender. i have not owned either. i also read somewhere that the Devi Ever Destructo Noctavia Distortion was loosely "inspired" by the Fender Blender and it seems as if the Never Drive is a Fender Blender killer.

so anyway. just your general thoughts: on the original Fender Blender, the reissue, clones, other Octave Fuzzes et cetera...

thank you.

I've had the Fender Blender, I'd personally not recommend getting the reissue. One, it has no volume and can't be used alone, you have to put another fuzz after it to hear it. Secondly, the reverse jacks are a fucking pain in the ass because they're so far apart. I'd buy a clone (ronsound makes one I beleive.... called the 'Flender'), or a Devi DN/ND.

bottom line for me: The Fender Blender is a great sounding pedal but the lack of volume made me get rid of it.

Shits fucking outrageous.

the reissue is a piece of shit.

I know what you mean PP i was gonna buy a reissue, but fuck man, the volume couldn't cut through perforated cardboard with a knife.

ive never played a fender blender, but ive got a DN. the DN is insane, its very trebly and will scream at you when you are not playing guitar. also, ive used it in a stand alone noise setup as a filter, and in a feed back loop. it fucks up sound something awesome. its really fucking loud too.

if thats something you're into, id check it out.

w/ the DN? yeah i think i read that on here in another thread while i was searching. No chords and no leads would really be a problem though LOL.

i've got a Never Drive.
it does some pretty fender blendery thing. a big muff in front of it makes it sound pretty cool (i even got some video game like sounds out of it with that). on some settings chords can sound ok. just depends on what you're into i guess. :idk:

The Never Drive can get some Fender Blenderesque tones. I'm going through an octave fuzz phase now, especially for my doom/noise board. For octave stuff its the never drive, hendrix octave, and sometimes the karl fuzz. I'm thinking about trying a double FZ-2 stack soon.

Chord is not a word the Scrambler can understand.

My knowledge of non-boutique fuzz is limits, however, I noticed just about all can't do chords. Those that can only work with power chords. Boo!

LOL. yeah i was going to say that. i mean isn't that the case w/ a lot of overdrives & fuzzes. hence the need for boosts & EQ's or whatever. or just using them for leads. or something.

i think that part of the impetus for this thread was that i don't really know that much about the older fuzzes & i feel in order to get the know the newer fuzzes i should be conversant w/ the older famous ones. not fetishize them. but just be knowledgeable.

Don't even think about it. Scramblers are also one of those pedals that look really cool but SUCK.
