ok, so guitar world is not premier guitar or guitar player, but i still subscribe and yesterday made it all worth it!

i opened my mail box and had a big smile as jerry cantrell was on the cover, but then i looked at the rest of the cover and i saw the word Sunn 0))) there was a three page article and interview with our beloved grimm robe wearing purveyors of sonic doom!

Greg Anderson and Stephen O'Malley talked about Monoliths and Dimensions, recording, writing, and playing live. i have been a huge fan of Greg Anderson's since the Engine Kid days of the early-mid nineties and was very happy to see his face in a guitar mag. dont get me wrong, Stephen O'Malley is the shit too, but i did not cut my teeth on his riffs.

i cant help but think that this is awesome. a smile ran across my face thinking about that kid in the back of the House Cafe in DeKalb IL this summer bitching about the smoke machine running for 20 minutes filling the tiny coffee house with smoke until you couldnt see. i thought that guy would either leave before they came on or crap himself when they started. Sunn 0))) then played a 90+ minute version of the new album. FUCKING AWESOME!!!

Sorry, but i am stoked!!! I love Sunn 0))) was very happy to see them in guitar world of all places and i hope they never stop.....

How is Sunn O))) getting so popular all of a sudden? Srs, like a few years ago no one had any clue what the fuck or who the fuck they were. Now a shit ton of people that don't appreciate the doomz at all are aware of them...like all those "I only listen to classic rock and Slipknot" guys.

i saw them twice this summer. the first night of the tour was Empty Bottle in Chicago, and a week later in DeKalb. most of the people in DeKalb were wearing some sort of band t-shirt, but i was stunned by the crowd in Chicago. when i saw them at the Empty Bottle in 2003 every one in the crowd looked sort of like mudfuzz did in that last pic he posted, but this year every one was wearing the shirts that Sunn 0))) were selling for that tour which started that night or button up shirts with collars. i am not trying to be the concert fashion police or anything but it was very strange...

Eagle Twin opened up both nights and if you have not heard of them check out http://www.myspace.com/eagletwin Gentry Densley is another one of my favs who shaped my playing when he was in a band called iceburn that put a spilt ep out with Engine Kid in 94 I think. he now plays baritones with a drummer who is nuts. i will post some pics when i get home.

Sunn is one of those bands that you always hear their name but never the music, and when you do it's fucking awesome.

It could have to do with what that Genxide douche was saying about Baritones being hip, people like heavy t0nez I guess.

tbh, i hope sunn gets big.

it would make me so happy to turn on the tv and see them and boris and all that fuzzy goodness instead of the bullshit you get now.

i don't think sunn will ever get big.

I'm pretty sure 98% of the universe is completely repulsed by them.

I think they're rad, but i can't ever get through anything of theirs unless i'm beyond stoned.
