Where is our vintage replica fuzz appreciation thread?

There is something really satisfying to me to see a gigantic unique enclosure with a small turret board nicely wired up with large NOS components. For a community that supposedly loves fuzz we don't seem to celebrate vintage fuzz stuff as much. So let's do that here. I wanna see some talk about DAM, Blackstrap Elektrik, Bad Pixel, Jerms, JMI, Castledine, etc. We need to talk more about Fuzz Faces, Tone Benders, Rangemasters, etc. Even old Big Muffs. I know they aren't cheap but so many clones are derived from the classics for a reason.

It's not in a big box but honestly the Ritual/Coloursound one knob fuzzes rip so hard idk why we don't see them more everywhere.

Accept no replicated substitutes!
Go old or go home!

pedals lose 1% of their sound every year they exist so old pedals are worse than new pedals

"better" and "worse" are subjective anyway.
I actually like tweaked versions of older circuits. (Basic Audio comes to mind.)

I almost bought a meathead yesterday for 150€, i didn't though cause it was a silicon and i have no idea what a meathead is worth. Tru-fi has awesome enclosures but i think their pedals are supposed to be kinda blues lawyer fuzz.

I’m just starting to really appreciate vintage spec fuzzes. They may be less versatile but there’s some real magic in there. I have plenty of modern takes on fuzz too, which rule, but sometimes I want my coffee black.

I always want my coffee black (unless it's shitty coffee).

Wanted to build on of those inside my guitar at various points when at the height of my crippling minimalist thoughts.

Slanted enclosures are rad AF. Wish more were used instead of the typical rectangular boxes.

It is a good point that I haven't seen discussed too much. Old amp need serviced with capacitor replacements. But old fuzz boxes? I like the minimal modern mods that improve quality of life, such as better bypass or volume knobs on circuits that didn't have one. But adding too much turns it into something else, a new device, and then it becomes more of a tribute than a replica. Fine lines.

Some of those were legit great. I played a buddy's Frantone era EHX Big Muff and it was everything I thought a muff should sound like. But those were from 2000-2007.

What part of the sound is being lost? A fuzz pedal sounds different on any given day due to temperature, power source, guitar, amp, and my inner ear health so 1% per year of a certain attribute is like a rain drop in the ocean
