Kanye West Jesus is King

Hey guys. Has anyone listened to this? Probably the wrong place to ask, but I find it hilarious and also some of it actually sounds good but it's fucking stupid as hell. Kanye even has a song that included Chic Fil-A. The go to for all conservative evangelicals right?
When I first heard about this I think I laughed for like 30 minutes straight. Then I listened to it and laughed harder. Then I bought the album on iTunes so I could share the hilarity everywhere.
Thoughts on why Kanye did this?
My theory (besides the obvious that he's absolutely insane) is that it's because the entire rap community has shunned him over being a Trump supporter. So, where is he supposed to go? Got to go after the stupidest demographic of people available! Rich white people. Joel Olstein is already involved too, so that even more solidifies my thoughts. The funniest thing about this to me is that I have had white old men argue with me about. I'll say that again. White old men. They are the ones who seem the most offended when I say "Kanye is just playing you all like a fiddle and taking advantage. He doesn't really care unless it makes him money". I'm sure they all think "go team! We got us a rap star, now we will be taken seriously". Right.....
Anyway, if you haven't heard it or seen it, it's fucking ridiculous.
Enjoy.

A little oversimplified, I think.
Kanye seems like someone struggling/wrestling with a lot of things: Fame seems to be one and how that affects people. Not trying to excuse him but none of us here are famous (that we know of) and I can't even imagine what that is like nor would I want that. Well, I can imagine what it is like and it seems like it is hell.
And from that it seems like he is asking questions about his views on things politically. He got into the Trumpsphere which isn't the best place to explore nuance and alternative political views but I think it shows he was dissatisfied with the political and social view of things he had had thus far. And also with his religious beliefs. It's easy to poo poo Christianity - I've done it, I think most people that aren't religious or left of center do - but he is obviously trying to work is religious world view.
There is also what appears to be delusions of grandeur.
And regarding the Golem wife, that may be part of it too. She for sure is a product of our sick social celebrity worshiping cult. Not trying to excuse her or say "poor Kim" but at the same time I feel bad for people like that. Again, reference fame here. It is a sick thing and with social media and the whole expansion of reality tv/influencer culture we are in a sick place culturally.
I'd say I admire, at least, he is open and vocal about expressing what he is thinking and feeling, probably knowing he is walking into the lion's den expressing all that. Can't say I agree with it all though.

I'm not here to criticise his views (because I don't care and try not to listen not because I agree) but I am here to criticise this awful album

While I've always been a fan of his musical ideas, it seems like his circle of influence/co-conspirators has more to do with his decision making lately, and it shows. I wish I could be less cynical and accept his pro-religion model, but given Kayne's record of needing millions here & there to fund his clothing lines, tours, and whatever else he sees necessary to keep him & the extended group going, the music has become the lowest rung, even if it can be great in spurts. Bon Iver seems to have fallen into this collaborative trap (more pooling ideas from anyone except himself, at the expense of having any real guidance or motivation to make music), and both he & Kanye are inching slowly to communal living paired with a loose tie to religion (or in Bon Iver's case, casually doled-out psychedelics) which involve large groups of "collaborators". And while I can appreciate most cult-based musics after the come-uppance (Yahowa 13, "Shut Up, Sheela!", or whatever Beefheart was doing for eight months in 1968), a majority of what survives (musically) will only be appreciated after their fortunes fall away and everybody stops caring (dollar bin wins, everytime).
But I did love "Lift Yourself", especially since it's allegedly a track Drake asked for, and instead Kayne released it as the stone cold classic it was always supposed to be:
